BEST MOD FOR ZL1

There is prob many threads. I am currently bone stock living in Michigan. I know Katech does great work for mods. What is the best bang for the buck? I really just want to spend around 3K with everything installed and tuned. What can I get for this price range for good horsepower?

Flex fuel sensor and Ethanol fuel...followed by catted headers and rotofab(with tune of course). If you do catless headers, then plan on installing some resonators in the X pipe.

Imo it's a toss up between E85 and a pulley swap.

The plus with going flex fuel is it will work fine with the stock engine. A pulley swap, while will increase power, really needs headers/exhaust as well.

Bang for the buck, E85, flex sensor, and tune wins assuming you can accept the loss of mileage and the fact that your extra power is always tied to availability of E85, meaning if you travel, you may not be able to find an E85 pump. I went the more expensive route with bolt-ons but my car always makes the same power on pump 93. Pros and cons.

As already stated... but with my 2 cents...

Phase.1 = E85 + BG Rotofab + Tune and enjoy the car a while.
Phase.2 = 2" Headers + Ceramic Coating + JMS + Re-Tune
Phase.3 = Ported Blower + 103mm TB + Upgraded HX + ATI Damper + 15 OD Pulley + Re-Tune

Most don't go past that point... if you want more later, some go cam, some go more boost and fuel system, some go fuel system and straight E85, some go 2650...
Good luck either way.

The LT4 is octane limited, even on 93. The E85 solves that problem, allows you to add more timing, and cools the cylinder charge all at once. No brainer upgrade.

I did the RotoFab on mine and satisfied but I’m staying stock with mine for now.

Another vote for e85 and a Rotofab. I recently added the Rotofab Big gulp, DSX flex kit, aux pump, allowing me to run e50-60 and of course engine/ trans tuning. Car made 630whp and runs great over stock form!

Great example... i really wish GM would have made these E85 capable from the factory!

Bolt ons (as many as you are comfortable handling yourself), flex fuel and tune for sure.

The mileage loss is negated by the lower cost per gallon. In my area E85 is 2.69 a gallon vs 93 pump gas that is over 4 bucks.

If you are traveling, then chances are you wouldn't be worried about needing the extra power of Ethanol and can just run pump gas. The tune will automatically adjust for the fuel change so it's not a big deal to switch back and fourth.

I may be mistaken and of course I don't know how your tune is set-up, but my understanding was that if you didn't pulley and were pretty much stock you could go e80-e90? I've heard of some going full ethanol as well.
