AC Belt - Safe to drive without it?

Hi all,

The belt pictured below is actively deteriorating and I'm concerned if I attempt to drive it to the dealership for repair, it wont survive the trip and possibly cause more damage to surrounding area/belts. I believe this is the AC stretch belt? Assuming I'm correct: Am I ok to cut/remove it and drive to the dealership? Can anyone confirm the vehicle is OK to drive without this belt?

you can run fine with no a/c belt as that is its only driven accessory. The belt doesn't look that bad in the pic IMHO. If fabric is dangling or fraying or rubber chunks are missing, then it may fail quickly. A few people have lost an AC belt on track and there was no damage to the other drive belts...it just falls off. No tensioner on the AC belt as it is a "stretch fit" variety.

I lost an ac belt on the track a few years ago. When I replaced it, I noticed that the vvt harness was damaged, even though it's protected by a steel channel. The vvt is deleted on my car and I finished out the track session and drove 150 miles back home without issue, I didn'teven know the harness was damaged until I replaced the belt. Not sure how a car with functional vvt would have behaved
