Dealer Teflon Coating?

In my quest to find my Rapid Blue 2SS 1LE, found one that is actually at a dealer fairly close by. I had plans to get the car ceramic coated/PPF after delivery.

The only caveat on this car that is in stock at the dealer, they already put $1,500 worth of Teflon coating on the car. I don't know much about these things. Would this be a deal breaker? Or should I jump on it since the car is in stock and not accounted for?

That's up to you if you want to pay their ADM. That Teflon coating is most likely a junk $20 bottle of a sealant that will last about 3months. They just rip you off on the price.

That's a dealer addon not ADM.

You can press them on it, I doubt that it's already installed, i've had success at a dealer refusing their theft VIN etching service, not paying for Nitrogen, and 3 windshield cracks. If they won't budge on it you either take it or walk. I can promise you it's not worth $1500, get the product brochure. It's almost impossible to avoid dealer add-on's, or, ADM these days. Try to negotiate that price down because I agree that it's some $20 can of nonsense that they're using.

They told me the same thing when I bought my 2019 Equinox. When I took it in for the 1st six month "sealant maintainence" they freely admitted that was when the FIRST coating was being applied. Bunch of bald faced liars.

yes, a quick polish would remove that without issues. Hell a good quality strong All purpose cleaner would probably remove it as well.

Dawn will probably remove it, if, and that's a big IF, they actually did anything.

Honestly I'd rather stealerships just outright list it as a markup instead of this kind of bs.

Yes! I bought a 2014 Fusion Titanium brand new, and what drew me to it was the color, rims, and engine, all of which I was looking for. It was listed for about $3000 less than MSRP, but when I got there it had the $3000 added back to it with ceramic coating, cheap tint that was already turning purple, and the flashing third brake light, I'm sure there was some other BS on there. They had the tint listed at $700!!! what a joke. I had it replace with good stuff within a year.

tell them you don't want to pay for something you don't want and if they won't negotiate then walk, there are plenty of 2SS 1LE for sale.

I was able to talk them down to taking $1,000 off. Not ideal, but $599 over MSPR isn't too terrible. Flying out Friday evening and picking it up Saturday!

Well done, $599 isn't something worth walking over IMO. Enjoy, hope everything goes smoothly.

I would pay that as well. Its hard finding these so jump on ones that you can as long as its not a bad deal

Here is the thing, they are charging you $1500. They will not be putting anywhere near the $1500 amount into the car.
