Wife sad my Mustang sounded better...
My 15 GT Mustang had the Corsa cat back system on it.
I live on the top of a ridge and my wife can hear me coming home She's standing on the back porch while I'm talking to her and she drops the "your Mustang sounded better" It's like hearing those aren't really your kids... The Camaro had the non monitored cats fall off and I have the link pipes and Borla mid pipes. Stock muffler. I want to keep the NPP function. I want to know between the Borla Atac or S type what has the best sound. I really liked the Corsa system on the stang, but ... That system was wake the dead loud past 5k rpm. The cat back system was not nearly as expensive as an axle back. So Corsa with the NPP or Borla Atac?S type I know exhaust sound is subjective. I hope to get input from people who have heard these systems. Thanks. |

Well, I fully understand what you are saying and will give you my take on it. For context, we have a 17 ESS supercharged 6spd GT that runs headers into catless X-pipe to Borla S type mufflers. My Camaro runs the identical exhaust setup aside from the S type mufflers being NPP.
Chevy only guys will argue, but in all honesty it is REALLY hard to get an exhaust sound that is more aggressive than a Coyote in the upper RPMs with headers, no cats and a good muffler. There are a lot of Mustangs out there running crap exhaust that sound awful, but when done right, they freaking sing. The Borla S type is less raspy which the Coyote needs and just gives it a crazy roar. Docile putting around, screams insanely under boost. I just think it sounds "better" up top than most anything else, but that is subjective obviously. On to what you are trying to do, to me the Camaro catless through the S Type sounds excellent. It is deep and very low key at highway speeds. Under full throttle, it is extremely loud. I have no close neighbors and it is a good thing. Your wife would have no problem hearing that setup for a long ways, I can hear the car for what seems like minutes if my wife drives it up the road. Regarding the Atak vs S type, I had an early set of Atak NPP mufflers and found that without any cats, it was too raspy. I tried muffler deletes and it sounded like a pulp wood truck with open headers. Some people like that, but I changed to the S type and it was PERFECT for what I wanted. I've heard the Corsa setup on a C7 vette and it sounded really nice - not as loud as mine and a different tone, but he still had the cats so that is a large part of it. Still can't guarantee your wife won't think the Mustang had a better sound but either of what you suggested she should at least hear. Good luck!

I would say that divorce is also an option to consider.
Corsa does have an axle back that retains the NPP function. That's what I would go with. Honestly though, long tube headers with cats going into the stock NPP really sounds the best. |

I have to agree with you. All the people I ride with have changed out their NPP and gone either Corsa or Borla with 2 having MBRP axle backs. They all tell me my car sounds awesome from a distance. I cant' see spending 2300 on an axle back with the way the car sounds now. If I do anything else it will be the crushed pipe delete and get a lil more out of the tone.

The Chevy LT engines, I don't think, will never compete with the 5l Fords. The LS engines sounded great. LT's sound OK and I think sound better than the Mopars. There are so many around my area, I'm pretty tired of their sound.

I'd love to do headers but I'm in Ca presently.
As far as a divorce goes my wife is the one who encouraged me to buy the car and then negotiated the deal. Plus the cost. Lol I currently have the lnk pipes and the Borla mid pipes. I want my Camaro to sound better than other Camaros. Not obnoxiously loud. I had to short shift the Mustang around cops. The Corsa has a better looking tips. Im not a fan of carbon fiber tips either. I was hoping to get a response from someone who had heard both Corsa and Borla. |

LT engines honestly do not sound as good. Probably GM's best performing but worst sounding small block to date. Not that I think they sound bad, but they have progressively become worse sounding over the years. Gen 2 LT1 was a mean sounding sumbitch. Gen 3 LS was good, Gen 4 decent, Gen5 meh-ok.
Mustangs have always sounded the good. The Fox body 5.0's were the best. Coyotes to me don't sound great but the GT350 with the right exhaust sounds pretty wicked.

Imo, it's the firing order that makes the difference. I love my camaros but mustangs have always had a better exhaust note.

I would get rid of the wife because you do not need that type of negativity in your life
