How can I tell if the torque converter is damaged by the A8 shudder?

The previous owner had a the torque converter replaced back in July of 2018 but I wasn't able to get in the new fluid stated on the TSB until February 2020 and I wanted to get the service advisor to replace the torque converter if it's possible since I'm still experiencing it though he claimed he didn't sense it.

The service advisor said they did a reset on the trans-am and to come back after 1,000 miles and if the problem still persist they'll do the second flush. Anyway I can get them to just switch for a new torque converter?

In my case when they did the latest fluid and flush procedure they replaced the torque converter because it showed significant damage. If it shows no damage they won't do it

Maybe you could filter the fluid and look for metal particles.

If you think you feel shudder and the fluid has been there for 2 years chances are you have some wear. Florida humidity may also be a factor.

If you look at the TSB there is pretty specific measuring procedure they are supposed to follow. It is not just "the GM technician could not sense it." The technician's opinion is not part of the necessary documentation.
