I've driven:
165mph in my wife's 1979 Camaro that she bought new & SHE rebuilt the engine except I put the heads on the block for her. 170mhp+ in my 2010 Challenger SRT8 & 1971 SS454 Monte Carlo 180mph+ in my FZ1 motorcycle I've only had our 2012 Camaro up to 155mph but it felt like it had more. I did get clocked/pulled over at 127mph in my 1999 Suburban (powered by a 500hp 383 stroker) in nowheresville New Mexico a few years back at 3am. Cop thanked me for pulling over & waiting for him then warned me about possible stray cows, told me to slow down then gave me a ticket for 10 over.

i didnt get to drive it as i was only 12 yrs old at the time, but my Dad had a friend who had a 1969 Plymouth GTX (like a Roadrunner) . he took me out in that car and at 140 mph he had to back off as the car was leaving the road and going airborne. that car was fast. had a 440 4 barrell. THe owner was a middle aged Dentist and the car had raised letter tires with wheel covers. every high school kid begged him to have that car.

Had my 2007 WRX (modified) to a Trooper's verified "150+" was all he'd tell me. Speedo buried at 155, and it was beyond that. (30 days jailtime--didn't serve any)
Had my current Camaro up to 144 with my brother, he chickened out and told me to back off, so I did. I'm pretty sure I've had it faster, but I'm not staring at the speedo at those speeds. Ridden in a 1967 'Vette that couldn't hook up at 80 mph with 335 Hoosiers on the back. NO CLUE what that thing was capable of, nor how fast we went. It was INSANE. Definitely the fastest car I've been in to this date. |
