Ok finally got my ZL1 back from the oil pump failure issue causing the low oil pressure warning. Mine turned out to be a crack in the oil pump itself; not on the outside but on a metal part on the inside of the oil pump. It will be sent to GM for analysis but it appears to be metal fatigue possibly which may explain why only a few pumps failed. Also clarified that the oil pump is covered under the 5 Year Powertrain & Engine warranty which is good. Hoping this new oil pump is good for life of the car which is what is normal.

Like others have stated, looks to be July-Oct 2017 build date. Anyone with a 1LE lost a pump? I know that is only aero and suspension. Just curious. My build date is late Dec 2017 so hopefully I’m safe.

Eople are seeing second oil pump failures now. GM has not fixed this. While covered under warranty, it will prevent you from doing anything to your car. Not a great feeling knowing that impending doom can strike at any time. Come, on GM.

Well, it be might something different Between manual and auto transmission. Remember in the 5th gen, there were motor differences, I would not be surprised if there are internal motor differences in the manual and autos in the ZL1 as well.

That's why I was asking in a previous post for additional information regarding this.

I have the print out on my car. I have a friend that works for GMC. I was able to log into the factory portal and get all the back information on the car including all rebate and incentive info while I was working on the price with the dealer. I was playing dirty. Lol!

For those that had their pump replaced, have you noticed if the new pump is higher pressure or not than the original. I still think it odd the stock pump won't hit 40psi.

Probably high volume, and not high pressure.
