The only time you should be using pressure is when you are compounding or polishing, to engage the abrasives to remove defects. Doing anything else, washing, sealing, waxing, etc., use as light of pressure as possible. When you touch your paint think wipe gently, not scrub like mad. Using pressure will only put scratches in your clear coat, it won't get your car any cleaner or add more shine.

Thank you for the tip! I’ll just try a gentle wash and see how it goes after that, I don’t think it will work with how hard it was to remove from the windshield but hey you never know

I'd bet WD-40 or goo gone would remove it. I use WD-40 to safely remove tar.

1. Wash car with a good bug and tar shampoo
if still there 2. Clay bar since you used clay or if the sap remains 3. polish with dual action polisher

If the local high pressure car wash has warm wash water then it will pull it off. Sap is just like pancake syrup, just needs to be warmed up and then soapy water applied to get it off. What doesnt come off then go over the vehicle with a clay bar. After that recoat the vehicle with a sealer/wax of some sort.

So washing didn’t work, I used hot water in my wash bucket but it just sort of smeared it in the paint. I guess I’m on to claying the car
Thanks for the help everyone |

If it doesn't work, let me know. I can probably send you a sample of CarPro Tar or Gyeon Tar for you to try out

Do I need to dilute the mineral spirits? It scares me because that’s pretty much paint thinner isn’t it?

Mineral spirits has no effect on cured paint and clearcoat. It’s the cheapest option, but if you want to buy a product, any of bug/ tar products will work. I use stoners tarminator

Hand sanitizer or IPA will work as well.
