DELIVERY AT THE PLANT ?

Wishful thinking, but it'd make sense for GM to do what they've been doing for decades with the Corvette.
In today's tech filled world, the buyer could accept the vehicle at the plant and monies wired to the dealer in a matter of seconds.
GM can't deliver our vehicles right now, so it makes sense.
Wishful thinking.
I, for one, would swallow the destination costs and a premium similar to the Corvette.
Airfare, too.
Anything to keep my new vehicle off the lot, windows rolled up and baking inside and out.

With less than 6 months of Gen 6 left, nothing will change.

I theorized with my dealer just an hour from LGR that they don't have a POC and go over there and perhaps pickup a car or three for their customers. That's something that I would probably attempt to do if had proximity to the plant.

The system is not for the impatient.

It will never happen. Also, the corvettes are not delivered to the customers directly at the plant. They're delivered at the corvette museum.

Aware of that, but it is the same zip code.

You can't take delivery of the Corvette at the assembly plant. You can take delivery at the National Corvette Museum which is close but it's not the same as picking up at the plant. Someone has to complete the PDI on the vehicle(which the museum does for Corvette) so that means that GM would have to put a facility in place and hire personnel to handle the PDIs, scheduling and all of the logistical nightmare tasks involved.

There's a reason that Corvette is the only vehicle that offers this in that the Museum is in the perfect location with it being so close, they also have the personnel and facilities on hand to handle this. It also benefits the museum and the many things they have to offer that give them the opportunity to make additional money(their insurance programs, memorabilia, etc).

R8C Corvette museum delivery is a $1000 option and you still pay destination cost. Nice that they offer it as many gladly pay it.

For 2024, they raised the price to $1,495. I think it's worth it for the experience.
