So the dealer i have a deposit with txt'd me today with a pic that the car got delivered earlier, i asked him for the out the door number $48,057
so i could finalize my pre approved loan with my credit union, .

He initially told me last month that they would sell @ MSRP so i did the deposit (refundable) but by these numbers he txt'd me something's not adding up, i called the dealership but he left for the evening so i txt'd him asking for a detailed breakdown on how he comes up with the total and he replied he would do that tomm when he gets back in.
The MSRP is
$43,875
-$750 rebate
$42,125
$595 doc fee
=$42,720
X sales tax @6.625% $2,830
=45,550
-$48,057 his OTD price
$2,507 unaccounted for, now i know there's roughly $400 in DMV title & Reg and say another 100 in misc, so that leaves 2g unaccounted for, sounds like i'm going to get the bad news about a added markup. can't imagine what else it could be
And if that's the case i'm going to walk away it is my #2 color choice i was settling on and this makes it harder to like.

If that extra 2500 is a markup, let ‘em know that they lost a future sale from them as well as they could have potentially sold you another car in the future. Unfortunately though some sucker will pay the extra 2500 after you walk away.

Yea, and he clearly told me they don't markup that's why i went ahead with the deposit because up to that point all the dealers i reached out to were doing ADM's
So i'm pissed with the supposed add on's that i'm sure he's going to read off. And i'm going in with my CU financing so their not making it on the backend with a loan from their banks, also it's a LT1 basically a V8 equipped 1lt not a more optioned optioned car or SS model.

...he might have slapped on an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty, not just a simple ADM. Just guessing, of course.

yea agree it's going to be add on's (window etching, warranty, maintenance package, etc) which are technically not messing with the initial msrp.
AHH and let me be clear i loathe car dealers for bs like this

One of my usual dealers offered me $1K off MSRP on my 2024 order, but I went to the Camaro Inventory at Chevy.com and bought an almost identical 2023 for just a few hundred over dealer invoice once the $750 rebate was applied.

I am picking up a 2023 ZL1 6 spd manual this weekend out of state for MSRP minus the $750.

Personally I would keep looking. There are dealers out there who won't charge mark up, but you gotta wade through a lot of garbage dealers to find them. In my case I think I spoke with 7 or 8 dealers before my car popped up on the Chevy inventory page. It was already spoken for but the salesperson expressed skepticism that the person would actually be able to get their financing situation squared away. I kept texting the guy every few days, and eventually they dumped the first customer and offered the car to me at MSRP and I pounced on it.

Its hard to know where your own aggravation point really is...is it worth a Grand? I gave + $1500 because I'm not going to sit on the phone for the next month trying to pry a car loose from someone and make compromises on color and options over it. My limit was 1500 though. They tried 2500 to start and I refused. I had my perfect car there and I had at one point a 21 on order, then a 22, and this 23 finally got allocated. I had had enough of it and if they wanted 1500 I was already dropping $70K+ and that little bit just didn't matter in the whole enchilada.

IN this case it seems like they're intentionally hiding things. When I showed up with a check I had a written sales order, VIN and all the $$$ numbers from the dealer. There were no surprises.

I totally agree with this line of thought. If this car is in hand yours, then ask for full disclosure and then work out a deal. Even if you end up paying a premium, it is worth getting this one. It is not worth the risk of not finding one and all the aggravation of starting all over. Obtaining a Camaro is only getting harder every day.

Your first reaction should not be to back out and find another. Work this deal out.

I checked your math and when you subtracted the rebate you made a $1,000 error. It should be $43,125. So the price should be $46,550 plus as you say DMV and other misc. They probably just added the extra crap like tint windows, N2 for tires, super spoog wax etc. You are not far off. Just get in touch with them and work it out. No need in speculating, just get the facts from them and decide what to do. Good luck.

Absolutely. If my dealer doesn't do right by me I will be gone forever.

If history holds true they will be fair. We'll see...

To all who posted above with your thoughts and ideas, thank you , i also do agree about the aggravation and stress part of it having to start looking all over again, almost every evening i was on chevy website searching for a match or something close.

So the salesman got back to me with their #'s
MSRP
$43,875
-750 rebate
$43125
sales tax
2946.14
175.50 supplemental title fee
595 doc fee
418.05 MV-plates-reg
Total
47,259.69
-1000 deposit i forgot about
46,259.69
balance left
so the 2000 i wasn't accounting for was my deposit and the error from my post above that poster 'Caerus' (the Mathematician ) caught.
Just waiting for the financing approval to be ok'd from my CU at a great rate 3.99%
