Hey there, I also have the same model as you..2016 VS RS auto. Yesterday I started the car and had nothing except the current gear I was in lit up red. No other gears were visible until I put the shifter into a different gear. I turned off the car and restarted it and all was normal: every gear lit up in white, and current gear in red. Seems like a little electronic glitch

Have had the exact same thing once in my SS.

Bumping again to reply to WhiteDevil. I had this issue with the lights only showing the Red light for which gear I was currently in on my 2017 V6 RS two times so far since May, 2020. Just had the 'Shift to Park' issue resolved as well by replacing part #84588250, but the issue with the lights happened the same day I got the car back.

If anyone has any other info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm...by any chance, does it only happen after remote-starting the car?

If so, it may be a start-up sequence glitch. Try waking up the electronics first by unlocking with the fob first, and then lock and remote start.

Works for other electronics glitches in the Camaro.

Good luck!

It’s entirely possible that is what caused it. But I usually hit unlock, lock, then start it up to fix all the infotainment UI glitches. Thanks for the suggestion. It hasn’t happened again at this point thankfully.

Hm, time to visit the dealership... or, if you want to tackle this yourself (I guess your bumper-to-bumper has long expired anyway), the part number for the shift indicator is 84373425. That is the most likely culprit, I think.

Thanks buddy! Not something I would like to have to replace, however it’s only 55$ @thatgmpartsguy so not to upset
