GPS for my 2021 Camaro.

I'm a bit disappointed our new Camaro didn't have sat.nav. ( we were told that sat. nav. was included in the package ).

In any event it's a system that we do like and we plan to add an aftermarket GPS.

Does anyone have any recommendations ? any advice is most welcome ,,, thanks.

Apple car play or android carplay links with google maps as stated above and is great with real time traffic.

I can only assume he wants sat nav due to the area he is in. He might have spotty coverage in the frozen north.

That said, you can go to https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/ and see if they have a solution for the 2021 yet, if Cell Nav is not an option.

Doesn't it have CarPlay/Android Auto?

The only system I've ever seen that was better than the CarPlay maps app is the one Teslas come with, and that really just has more to do with the size of the screen. I can't imagine needing something other than a smartphone and the Camaro's standard screen doohickey.

Edit: If it's cellular connectivity that's the real problem, I believe that Google Maps has a way to precache the local map data, so it doesn't need constant data service.

GM has an upgrade kit that may work for your car:

If you got a iPhone use “HERE “ maps not sure if it’s on android. You don’t need cell service for it to work Just download the country you want or state or even the whole planet if you want to. It uses the gps on your phone just turn on use offline in the settings or it uses the cell service but doesn’t need to. Plus it has upgrades on the maps for free.

Yes, by far superior to any car-based navigation system or stand-alone GPS.

Phones update for road construction, changes, traffic, etc., all in real time. Anything else is just pissing in the wind comparatively. My parents can't get off the addiction to car-based navigation systems, yet it had us paralleling the highway in Phoenix for 10 miles, thinking there was "construction", so each time we got on the highway, it would pull us back onto a frontage road. Most cars can interface with the phone apps now and it's just hands down better.

I prefer Waze over Google maps on carplay due to a lot of user reports for police, objects on road, etc.. Google recently purchased Waze (insert surprised look here) and now a lot of features are shared on both platforms.

If you're not aware (or maybe others reading this), A) Google owns Waze and B) Google is slowly incorporating Waze features (like info reporting) into Google Maps. The thing I find disappointing is that the amount of real-time data available in Google Maps is FAR less than what's available in Waze even though it would seem there are at least some things that could be done on the back-end to share data more liberally between the two.

With that said, I also prefer Waze over Google Maps and it's largely because of the amount of data that's available through Waze.

One thing you simply can't get (at least not at the moment) is the turn-by-turn directions in the HUD/DIC of the car unless you're using the GM navigation.

For the OP: When you were told that "sat/nav" was included, you may have actually been given factual information. Even for cars that don't have the navigation option in the Infotainment, turn-by-turn is available through OnStar and I believe it's also part of what you get for the 30 day trial when buying a new car. I personally think it's in poor taste to be so misleading as to tell customers they're getting that without ALSO telling them, very clearly, what it is and how it's different from navigation being built into the head unit.

You can get something through onstar now. It actually gives you a nav screen in the infotainment unit. If you would like, I can make a video tomorrow of it and show you what it looks like. Downside is nobody at onstar can tell me which package is needed for it, so they gave me the top one for the month to try it out. Let me know if you want to see that video.
