What will prices be 10 months from now? The question will make sense, read on...

Trying to decide between 1SS 1LE and 2SS 1LE - and it's all about the money.

Question:
Is there some place I can find list of examples of actual sale prices of new Camaros and how much higher or lower than MSRP they were at the time? I feel like it should be on this forum but I only find people asking about order status, no price.

1SS vs 2SS:
1SS is a perfectly fine car for me. 2SS is better but the price difference is not worth it IMO. Also, I assume for resale value as the cars age it will still be a SS 1LE and the extra a buyer will pay for 2SS vs 1SS will be small.

BUT if I can snag the 2SS for about the same price as a 1SS (i.e. $5,000 off MSRP) then fine. I'd like to look at what new prices were in 2019 (pre-pandemic) and if $5k off was common back then, I might be in good shape next year with recession and interest rates and all.

Background (Why I care about what prices will be in Aug/Sep 2023):
I am working with a broker who will order the car from a local dealer. He's been accommodating with all requests so far (order anything I want, no credit check, no front plate etc etc). For pricing he says "we will work it out when the car comes in". No deposit. I wasn't comfortable with that so I pushed and he said OK $2,000 off MSRP. Clean deal with no dealer installed door guards etc. Use any finance I want. That seemed a great deal at the time in 2021. Back in Nov 2021 I was discussing an exact car with him, but sent him an email saying to hold off on the order - at the time he had not placed it. Then we didn't speak for months. Then he calls me Sept 2022 and says the car is ready!
I told him I had sent him a cancellation email (not sure if he didn't get it or ignored it). Anyway, no pressure from him. He just said no worries, do you want me to order another car for you (since I told him I want a coupe now but the order was vert). Has not called or hassled me since. Seems trustworthy based on this and good reviews online.

Back to the above, I feel like ordering the car through him and just let him do his normal thing = see what market price is when the car comes in. If he could offer $2,000 under MSRP in 2021 then - no guarantees - but you have to think 2023 will be better than 2021. We are already seeing it. Also, with no deposit, I have the power to walk too.

You aren’t ordering shit under MSRP unless you have a discount code. Camaro is about to be extinct and supply chain is not getting better

I don't see prices dropping by any appreciable amount on sports cars. It’s looking like the gas powered V8 is on the way out which will drive demand higher than usual, not to mention supply chain constraints will not be fully relieved in a year. For a fair number of people, the sound is a big factor in what makes a sports car. What does an EV have in that department? Why do you want the 2SS? I’d personally walk away from a 2SS. I can’t stand the forward collision alert and all those types of features on it. I buy sports cars as a toy and for performance only.

This is what I thought after talking directly to a few dealers last year. Then I call this broker, easy to work with, $2k under MSRP. Orders car. Car now on dealer website with a line through MSRP, call for price.

Right but hasn't the Camaro been struggling to sell for years, even before pandemic and supply issues. Sure some like me will want one last minute but with economy and interest rates and it being a 2016 platform... dunno.

I will drive it on freeways and errands too. The bells and whistles are worth maybe $2k to me. Better sound system, seat memory, cooled seats, rear view camera. Not $5k+tx. I agree for $5k walk away. Use that for tint, PPF, rock guards, CAI noise.

I see you're in California. I've been contacting over 30 dealerships in SOCAL, San Diego, San Bernadino, NorCAL to order a car or pickup an in transit SINCE FEBRUARY.

90% wanted 3-5k or more over sticker.
5% wouldn't even take an order.
4% of these were in transit and had reservations OR were out NOT any SS.
1 dealer out of those many took would take my order with $500 deposit. When I got there they said they could do $200 below for an order, or MSRP for in stock.

I've been waiting since May for a 2023 2SS order. The car has been sitting in Mira Loma since the 16th.

I say all this to say - clearly there is no supply or timely delivery. Getting $2000-$5000 dealer discount with no special pricing is very unlikely. Given the lack of feature availability, all signs point to this car being phased out. If you're betting on a price drop due to economic/market conditions, you're better off waiting and buying used since many folks will be upside down on loans. But who knows.

Also if the Camaro is dead after this year or even next if it makes it.....expect prices to stay high on all used ones as well.

I assume this is the retailer you are buying from? Which one is it? Hope you get the car soon. Thanks for the reply.
