Tire Size Options

I have a 2010 Camaro 1SS with stock wheels. Want to put beefier tires on the rear without having to buy new rims. What would anyone recommend that gives is an aggressive look without rubbing worries? Currently have 275/40-20's on rear. Also maybe a little smaller width wise on front. Currently have 245/45-20's on front.

heres a thread that are the 'recommended' tire sizes. i copy/pasted for 20"
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=tire+sizes

Recommended 20" tires for 2010 Camaro
245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
255/45-20 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
265/40-20 = 28.4" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel
275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel

Stock SS wheels are 8 inch front and 9 inch rear so max would be 255 front and 285 rear for tires on stock rims.

I have a thread in the tire section. ..im on my phone and don't know how to get it. If you go to the tire section and look for Falkens all around thread I have photos. Don't worry about rubbing on the back.....ive had them on for over a year....drag raced them with zero issues. They are pretty beefy the pics don't do justice.

You will understeer something horrible if you go to a 235 front and 295 rear. The Camaro already suffers from understeer in the stock configuration which is one reason why a lot of people here are going to a square setup, doing what you want will amplify the issue. That is if you can even get them on there, 235's are meant for 7" rims. Stretching them out on 8" rims may cause you issues and headaches later down the road.

Something else you need to keep in mind is the overall height of the tire. You need to keep the height of the tires as close as possible. The height difference between a 295/40 and 235/40 will cause your dash to light up like a christmas tree.

thanks rontammy0. That's perfect. I like the look. I just ordered the black bow tie stickers for front and rear along with the gill 3D effect stickers. My buddy told me I needed to put on the Hurst sticker. Definitely the tire setup I'm gonna go with. Thanks!

Thanks Mr_Draco. After looking at pics of rontammy0's car, I'm copying his setup. 295/40 rear and 255/45 front.

No problem ...glad you like it......one bonus is the little extra sidewall. The car rides alot better with just that slight increase.
