HP Tuners Info

New to the forum! I have a 2018 SS A8 Redline....primarily, I want to remove AFM. Was going to get the Range unit, but wondering if I’d be better off getting the HP setup. Not real familiar with tuning, but have a small computer/programming background. The SS is still under warranty and will be for the next two years... thanks in advance!

I went with the Diablo hand tuner using the Diab Lew custom tune. Removed AFM and eliminated any throttle lag, love it. Also tuned my 2012 jeep Hemi with the same tuner. Amazing contrast over the factory tune.

Virtually all the major tuners, not to mention virtually all the fast cars on this board, all use HP Tuners. There is little to no support for the Diablo on this platform IMO.

The Range unit is good if you care about the warranty. When you want to make power go with HP Tuners and don’t look back.

I have 40 years of coding experience. If you decide to tune Be sure to pay a pro to get you started. You can learn from there.

And yea HP Tuners.

But if you are not trying to go faster do not tune your car. Tuning your car will immediately lower your cars reasale value at any Chevy delaler.

The change you get with the Chevy CAI is not really a tune.

any tuner will void your drive train warranty. But if you do go with a tuner go with HP Tuners. the rest are junk compared to HP. If you decide to go with more than just the AFM delete any good tuner will use HP.

to the forums.

I'd say ask yourself what, if worst comes to worst, you could or would do if the engine or the tranny let go and what's more important for you, leaning on the warranty for replacement or repair or enhancing your car's performance. The Range device is a good stopgap if you want the warranty for extreme cases that, by the way, are unlikely at this point without further changes to the car. Also, a good dealership will still help you even when the car is tuned or you have power adders as much as they can.

Given that you have the A8 and assuming you are already on the latest Mobil1 trans fluid (which is very important), once you're ready to start, you'll probably also want to tune the slip tables in the trans along with disabling DoD, and when you're down that road, you might as well add some power, too

If all you want to do is disable AFM/Dod, go with the Range, especially if you want your warranty. With the device, credits, and tune, you're in it for $900 min if you go with HP. Kind of pointless on a stock vehicle.

If you do decide to go the HP route, send me a pm. I can put you in touch with one of the best tuners in the country who will remote tune at a very reasonable price.
