Got my first speeding ticket! NOT GOOD!

I was headed to a drag event this morning on a country road so decided to gun it thinking of nothing, well I passed this store with an unmarked cop car didn't even see it coming! Speed limit was 45 I got up to like over 100. Got clocked at 94. At 50 over they arrest you and impound your car.... Ya.... VIP was really nice thank god, he liked my car and the sound of it. I haven't had a ticket in like 5 years. I have to go to court to see what the fine is. I think I have a good chance with this, cop said I was polite and respectful. So I hope the judge considers that and my record. What do you think guys? Do I have a chance of getting off the hook easy or will I pay hefty in fines??

Judges rarely look at how the person acts... but your record will definitely come into play. The Officer can try and talk on your behalf if he wants... but 50 over (basically)... that's rough. Lesson learned I guess... or at least it will be when the fines are dealt.

My outlook on driving is this....
Tickets are a fact of driving..... Some just have better luck than others.

You were going almost 100mph in a place where the limit was 45?

The judge isn't going to be pleased. Respectful to the cop or not, you're not going to be happy when you walk out of court.

Yea, 94 in a 45 is gonna cost you big time. IMO it should too. There are much better/safer places to jump on it...no Interstate on ramps where you live?

I can tell you my driver license history was clear until I got my Z06 , two years ago, after 10 days of having it, I got clocked at 105 in a 55 mph......... Cop was kewl, still got the ticket, prior to court, I took a Driver Safety Course, and knew about a 8 HOUR couse a judge would typically order and took it in advance. (( ALL CAN BE DONE ONLINE ))

In court, I presented both and confess my sins for what happened, and how I could of put the safety of others at risk and the judge, was impressed and just had me pay the ticket and court cost and didnt apply the points!!!

If I were you, I'd get a traffic lawyer. He can help you get it reduced. It'll be worth it in the long run. In the future, take your car to the track if you feel the need for speed

It was especially bad that you said you drove by a store... which some kid could have walked out of and crossed the street. It's not like you were out in the middle of BFE (how it sounded to me). I think the judge might be concerned about that.

Here in Colorado you could have gotten a bunch of charges at that speed and it would have been justified. Be thankful the cop was being cool with you.

whether we like it or not, the speed limit is there for a reason (believe me, I am not throwing stones, I've pulled in MORE than my fair share of tickets in the 1 year that I have had this beast). Sometimes I wish I lived in the SouthWest where I could go out into the desert and put my foot into it, or I wish I owned my own road race circuit... I can dream about what I would do if I won powerball (my own Laguna Seca in my backyard).

lol, I think you may not get off the hook that easy this time sir. However, i do know how you felt, and why you were on Full Speed Ahead mode. It's just an addiction you get when you have such a powerful car =p But yeah, it's our responsibility to keep ourselves and our cars under control =p
