I was driving my gtr two weeks ago and I heard a loud noise coming from the rear. I turned immediately had my gtr towed to crown nissan st. petersburg fl. They didn't touch my car only called some techs from tennessee to look at the car and record the noise, 4 days later two guys from japan to download some info from the car then left. Then I get a call from the dealer to tell me the news, and they told me that the car was driven without vdc too much and nissan will not warranty the transmission which they said was destroyed, I asked them how much to fix it they told me 20k, no freaking way I will pay 20k on top of what i just paid for the car. I called the gtr number and also talked to nissan consumer affairs got nowhere, now the car is sitting at the dealer. I know we shouldn't launch the car but why own it if you cant use this function, don't sell a car that goes 0-60 in 3.4 sec if the only way you can achieve this speed is to void the warranty , false advertising. Here is the bad news people were fearing it has happened to me and Nissan has told me there are already three people in my shoes, if you are one of these people email me, we have got to get together on this. Just think if any of you guys have taken the vdc off just a few times you have already voided your warranty, good luck what a joke nissan.

Called it.

Of course, I still don't believe a car that weighs around 3,900lbs and only has 480hp can pull that kind of 0-60, even with AWD. I don't care what kind of electronic witchcraft you have.

Nissan has lost a lot of enthusiast respect with this warranty problem. Everyone knows that a car owner can't do everything they want and keep their warranty, but stock features should be usable.

Just to add to the EPIC FAIL, not only does it void your warranty, but it destroys your transmission.

That is unbelivaible. You should get the rest of the guys who have had the same issue and keep track of everyone else who I am sure are going to have the same issue and file a class action suit against Nissan. There is now way this should be an issue on a car in this price range, especially with a piece of gear that comes with the car. Thats like putting a donut in front of Rosie O'Donnell and expecting her not to eat it.

EPIC FAIL>>>

Nissan knew their transmissions were pieces of shit...and they are forcing buyers to sign off on the warranty because they KNOW it will fall apart if raced!!!

What kind of crap is that?!?!?!

NISSAN....YOU SUCK!

this was posted on the Austin f-body forums. and when it was posted there, a topic came up: the GT-R's owner's manual has 2 pages (TWO PAGES!) worth of space to show what day and what mileage the transmission was replaced on and at. they knew it was going to be a problem, and did nothing about it.

where are all the GT-R fanboys now?

Not related to the GTR but Nissan is also screwing up with the next model Titan, letting Chrysler build it, It will be a Dodge Ram with Nissan body panels

they are only using the hemi engine and for that we (chrysler) gets to use small engines from nissan to make small fuel efficient cars.

trust me the titan would be a hell of alot better car if it was built on the dodge ram platform.

btw epic fail for the gtr.
