Corvette owner thread for us replacing our C5, C6, C7 with a 2016+ Camaro V8
I just wanted to create a thread for fellow Corvette owners trading our C5, C6, or C7 for a 2016+ Camaro V8 to discuss our decision, transition, and experience replacing our Corvettes with a 2016+ Camaro V8.
I have been a GM guy since I bough the 1993 6spd Camaro Z28 and have owned multiple new C5 and C6 Corvettes since. I've always loved my Corvettes. But, the high profile on the street, combined with the ingress/egress/seating position, have made me want similar performance in a more "daily driver friendly" car. The C7's curb weight and price increase, lack of DCT, mid-engine and a AWD option, left me really disappointed and unwilling to trade my C6. On the other hand, the 2016 Camaro SS's more comfortable seating, rear seats, decreased weight, MSRC, and overall increased performance really impressed me. I placed my order for my 1SS stickshift with MSRC after testing both the A8 and M6. It appears that the Camaro SS performance/price overcame my legitimate complaints about the poor visibility and the virtually useless back seat and trunk. So, what's your story and experience ???? My story in the thread above. Also have a 2001 C5 which isn't going anywhere. See my sign for the details.

I could see this 6th Gen car becoming the "poor mans" vette.
Same engine and very similar exterior cues.

Had a C7 for two years, loved the car. 16k miles.....Esp with the forgeline wheels, it was drop dead gorgeous. But my spinal problems dictate i drive something higher. So the 2LT i purchased fits the bill now:

My knees sound like pop rocks when I get out of my C5 but I'm not giving it up just yet

You got it right. Wouldn't trade my c7 for any other car in the whole world. Absolute perfection. Amazes me every time I get in to drive it even after 7000 miles and 1 1/2 years of ownership. Will be getting a new Camaro come spring but sure would never do away with the c7 vette to get a Camaro. Corvette is lighter, has perfect 50-50 weight distribution front to back, 7 speed transmission and just a different class of car. But going to love driving the Camaro for my every day driver and with the sure expecting it will be awesome in its own right too. But like comparing apples to oranges, just can't do it.

For me my 2014 Cyber Grey was the culmination of (3) amazing Corvettes since 2008, each one better than th next. There are no words for this car (C7) that accurately describe it's performance. Did it have it's issues....sure did but everyone of them melted away when you hit that button. I spent over 35K miles in that car..every minute was amazing and I never took it for granted.
I knew I had to make a move due to wife's back issues and she is a huge part of my enjoyment with these cars when we go for cruises or take trips. I struggled with the decision that came down to this car and the 2016 Stang with Perf. Pack. The thing that nailed it for me (other than the redo of the interior) was being able to keep th LT-1, I have huge respect for this engine. Love the Gen6, a lot of people as me if I miss the vette, sure I do but this is a different car altogether, this is a razor knife where as the C7 was a sugical scalpel....they both cut like a mother!! |

I sold my C5 about 2 months ago. Was made a offer I could not really refuse. I have driven the C7 several times and it just feels claustrophobic to me. (But I hate convertibles).I just could not get comfortable in it. It was not a matter of money. A fully loaded 2SS really just works for me.

Not replacing my 'vette. It's my track car. My 16 Camaro is for daily driving and cruising around.

Just getting used to my C6 std. I like my sports cars low & wide. The stance on the new G6 hasn't sold me yet(still have to see it in person, though)...
