L99 Noise

Every morning when I start the L99 in my SS it sounds like it has no oil in it for the first 4-5 seconds. Is this normal? The dealer said the Corvette does this too. Mine never did.

Not sure what you're talking about... although I do hear a slight ticking.
I usually warm up for 5 minutes before driving a new engine.

It's normal... lifters ticking til the oil gets pumped up there. Mine quieted down a bit after first oil change.

All of my 6.0L and 5.3L service trucks do the samething. Dealer says it's normal. Some of them have 200,000 miles on them and haven't blown up yet.

That did not happen with the auto I drove. Make sure you take it in and have it checked. Perhaps change the oil in it too as it could be clogged up with metals as well..

I didn't hear this the first two weeks, but I started noticing it two days ago. It sounded like a small exhaust leak or unadjusted rocker arms. I guess it's all good though.

I noticed this on my my old LS1. It never skipped a beat though. My dad's '02 Sierra 5.3 does the same thing; no biggie. I'd take it in, just so there's documentation, but I am with everyone elses answers.

I know there were some piston slap issues a while ago with Gen IIIs and that GM change coatings and such, but it didn't seem like there was a HUGE amount of failures; at least with respect to how many are still running fine.

Maybe you have than new hybrid/diesel/hydrogen/electric/solar-powered Camaro

Mine does this too. Ever so subtly. The thing I don't like is the sputter I get at start up. It only happens once on most starts, then it purs like a panther. (a Black one )

My 4.8L Silverado does that sometimes too. As soon as the oil gets up top it stops. Doesn't bother me. I make noises when I wake up too.
