Really?

Well I wasnt really big on the z28's of the past. I was always a firebird guy. But you would think Chevy would of paid some homege to that name sake..... ZL1 really? is it a corvette?

second, the tail section of the car is downright awesome. The front clip and the plastic hood crap is downright ugly. I hope they change that to a cleaner look!
I am sure some will like it, which is a good thing. Im just fine with my SS.
either way its a bad ass car, just needs to be a bit sexier in my opinion.

Umm, you do know that the ZL-1 was the all aluminum engine in 69 very highly prized 1969 Camaros right?

How nice of you to overlook the ZL1 Camaro from 1969 in your rant about blah blah blah blah.

Your opinion is your opinion. But at least get your facts straight before posting your nonsense.

Yes I know of the ZL1
but it was rare as rare can be.
Z28 is more known across more generations and generes. Not just the gear heads know what a z28 is
and yes its just my opinion, and your blah blah blah about 69 is just your opinion
ask 20 random people off the street what a ZL1 is then ask them what a Z28 is
names are important. they should reflect history and brands
you say Bel Air and people will think of 50's chevy's
you say 150 or 210 not so much

This generation of Camaro is supposed to pay homage to the 1st gen...so I think it's perfectly fine for them to use the ZL1 moniker. This thread, much like your opinion, is full of fail.

I didnt say it was a bad thing. I just think the Z28 is more well known. I didnt bash the name, just questioned the reasoning. There are no failings in opinon, thats just flat out ignorant to say.
if everyone thought the same way on things imagine how boring it would be.

I didnt over look the ZL1.... not sure what facts werent straight either. Its called difference of opinion. embrace it, dont hate it
I never said it was a bad choice. Just the reasoing was questioned. So many know the Z28, so few know the ZL1
and for your reference... the ZL1 was also offered in the Corvette.... The Z28 would pay direct homege to the camaro with no cross reference with the Corvette
so blah blah blah right back

It's worth noting, I think...the ZL-1 was a name for the engine placed in 69 COPO Camaros, not the name of the car itself. So technically this is a "new" name for Camaro.

Still...I am getting used to calling the new Camaro ZL1. I think it fits. I would have liked to have seen it called Z28, but I don't object to this name instead.

A good friend said "They could call it Polly Pocket, so long as it performs the way they say it will".

I agree 100%
it will perform, and ZL1 isnt bad... I just thought for the heritage they would stick with Z28
maybe they will save that for something else... dunno

i am actually ready to write a respectful email or something to GM telling them my feelings toward the name ZL1. i am so upset with the name they picked out that. ford gave the gt500 name for a reason. every knows what a gt500 is going back to the 60s. i never knew what a ZL1 was tell today. ford has GT and gt500 and chevy has SS and z/28 everyone knows them for camaros and mustangs . but they deiced to go with ZL1. sound more like a new corvette. i have a passion for cars and this really makes me upset
