Window Tint Question?
Hey im thinking about tinting the windows as soon as i get my car. I was thinking about going 35% on the drivers and passengers side windows and 15% on the little windows behind the drivers and passenger side windows and rear windshield. Now im wondering if it will look goofy with the side windows tinted 2 different percents. If anyone has done this and has pictures or has a opinion on this please post up and let me know. Thanks.

It will look funny because there isn't a body color separating it. In the case of a extended cab trucks, 4dr SUVs and trucks with crew cabs, the body color in between each pane of glass makes it easier to disguise the differnce in tint colors. It's the moral equivalent of having two different colored lenses on a set of sunglasses.

Legal limit is 35% so i can't go with 15% (small town a lot of cops). So im just curious if i should go 35% on the entire side or split it up 35%/15%.

I don't think you'll have a problem, as long as it is the same kind of tint, it is not that noticeable. But if you use different kinds (not different percetages) then you may get a color difference and therefore it would be much more apparent.

I went 20 all the way around on mine... My silverado before this was the same... Its a little on the dark side but not as obvious as 15... Might be able to pull it off... If you have a sunroof one trick is to keep the cover open. It will allow extra light into the car and the tint will then not seem as dark to police passing by...

It'll look fine! I went 5% on the back three and 15% on the two side windows. One thing that I would recommend is to go with Ceramic Tint instead of just the regular kinds of tinting, and it isn't that much more expensive. It cuts out ALOT more heat than standard tinting! Where I am here in California, it can get well over one hundred in the Summer time, and it makes a HUGE difference!

I like the same tint front and back. Know what you
mean about small town cops. I have to ride through mine with the windows down most of the time. I have 5% on all the windows and 35% on the windshield for a year and half with no problems yet.(knock on wood) It looks great if you can deal with the paranoidness.

Scattergun your car looks great! i will probably stick to my plan and go 35/15 on the sides. Not to mention i have heard the tint looks much darker with dark interior. the place im going to use to get it done has a lifetime warranty fading and peeling so hopefully they use the good stuff. Thanks for the help everyone!

I just bought an Impala, I got 5% all around. The limit here in Florida is 20% i think.

Can you guys please, please stop telling other users to get 15% all the way around...unless you are willing to pay all of his tickets (each window can be assigned to one single citation). 15% on the sides is legal no where, if you guys want to run that risk...cool your money, your car. I have no problem with it and some people have legit reasons to go below 20....but we all know some guys run 5% and never get bothered, yet some run 15 and get stopped. In a small town, he will get stopped running anything near 10 on the sides. Remember these windows are pre-tinted (at least mine were) at about 80%. I asked for 25 and it pushed me closer to 19% based on the factory....
However, this guy seems like he wants to confirm he is within state limitation and not be bothered by small town police which will eventually tag him for it.... Taylor...take it from another Taylor. 35/15 will look fine. Done it before in a coupe and unless someone has OCD, no one will care.

Do these small town cops have tint meters? Very few in my area have tint meter, and most of the ones that do couldn't care less about your tint (yes I've spoken to them when I see them on calls, I'm a FF). I have had 5% on my last 6 cars and have only been pulled once for it, but got out of a ticket.
