I would be willing to bet GM wants to take a look at that car since the air bags didn't deploy. I know a guy that had a Dodge truck and was in a accident kind of like this and they took it in and had a look to see why they didn't do there job.
They should have come down especially when it hit the fire hydrant and trees.

New cars have to be 75% to 80% cost before they will total it.

This is true...I am an insurance adjuster and an insurance company won't total a car just because you want them too. It's a pure #'s game, if the repairs are less than the ACV (actual cash value) or the total loss threshold of 75%-80% mention above they're going to pay to have it fixed, otherwise they'd be paying you more when the car could've been fixed for less and that doesn't make financial sense. Hopefully your airbags did blow or there's extensive enough frame damage to call it a structural total loss, then no matter how much the repairs are below the ACV they have to toal it out. If they do total it you should get pretty close to what you paid, possibly more. The insurance company will use a third party vendor to search local dealers and private arties in your areas that are selling cars simliar to yours to come up with a baseline value that will be adjusted up or down based on your cars trim level, miles, and options. If they do total it out and you think the value is too low then find adds for dealers near you that are charging mark ups and tell you insurance companies to consider those also, that'll raise the amount they settle with you for. I don't know what the laws are in Connecticut, but I'm pretty sure they're similar enough to Texas and California (states i handle claims in) that the accident is going to wind up being your fault for not safely avoiding a road hazard. SSRS Steve is right... next time give Babmi the business, less damage to your car and your driving record and (generally) a lot safer.

Just talked to the shop & there is frame damage to the front & the rear & the rear differential. All the cooling fins on the differential were snapped off. He also said the drivers door is so sprung that he thinks the front passanger side frame has been tweeked. No air bags went off. The only mod I had done was ARH full system & painted the factory mufflers.. ALso CT is no fault insurance state, so my fault- they have to pay.

That sucks man! If it will end up costing $28k to repair my bet is that they'll total it, but until the process is done it's hard to say for sure. Good luck.

I think given the car has only 600 miles the actual cash value is pretty close to sticker. On ebay every 2ssrs with approx 600 miles & used is going for 35k to 40k. The car was black on black with polished wheels.

I'd just as soon NOT see pictures of another wrecked Camaro...
Glad nobody was hurt.

You can (and should) pursue the insurance company for depreciated value, should you not get lucky and have the car officially totaled. My father had a similar situation, on that his Mustang GT was nearly totaled but not quite, so he got it repaired *and* finagled a check for the depreciated value of the car.

What you should do now is locate comparable replacements in your area to help document the actual cash value. eBay will not be a valid source for you as you need to locate cars in your local market. Call a few dealers that have the cars - have them provide you the sales price for the comparable trim level to your car. Dont worry if they are brand new with no miles, the appraiser will depreciate from that price.
