General G-Max AS-05

Interesting new option for stock wheels. I know the G-Max AS-03 was highly recommended for the 5th gen.

My experience has not been good with A/S tires on a true performance car. Steering feel and turn in almost always suck. Maybe these will be different. I have sold tires for 18 years and more often than not, when you change the tire that came on it, much less go to a different performance category, it does not drive as well.

Had the AS-03's on my 2010 and absolutely hated them.

Interesting.

I have to agree with the OP...the AS-03 generally got good praise in reviews and on the forums. Are they as good (in terms of sport performance) as a true summer tire. I'd say not, but for an all season they seems to be good.

Well let's face it, all-seasons will never be as good as a set of dedicated summer tires! But some people aren't able to keep two sets of tires around or only have the one car for all year driving.

Damn, I was quoted about $1080 installed for these from Discount Tire. These only cost $760 shipped from Tirerack...surely install doesn't cost $320?

Depending on how far you are from the Tirerack warehouse, you can probably save $60 and pick them up yourself!

Nice! I'm going to order them here in a few weeks, my tires are now under 2/32". I'll get Discount Tire to price match though.

Tires coming out of Texas to me here in Louisiana so I should have them by Friday, but yeah, get your numbers together and when you chat with them go as low as you can. I am going to keep the stock tires as back ups since they have 1500 miles on them.

Whoa, why are you changing them already? I'm at ~22k miles on mine. Funny that I see them shipping from LA, and yours are shipping from TX.

I just don't like the way the run on flats ride, I had a 10 1LT and after I changed out the stock 18's and put 20's on it with Toyo Proxes 4 plus, it made a big difference, I will keep the tires for "just in case".
