Valentine1 vs Uniden R7?
My Valentine1 was stolen out of my vehicle last week. F*ckers went right in my garage during the night.
I've had that V1 since 2002. I was looking at ordering a new V1 but the factory doesn't have any in stock. Does anyone have any real world experience with the new Uniden R7 in comparison to the V1? I have watched plenty of the Youtube comparison videos from that dude that has a three day hair growth on his face in every single video. ( Vortex ) He must love that old TV series Miami Vice. Never trust a guy with 365 Nubs. I think he's been bought by Uniden. They've been the only one giving him Beta units to try. |

It seems the Uniden R7 is the new and popular choice. I have an R3 and it's been really good. It has unbelievable long range. I do get certain BSM falses but was able to limit them somewhat with recommended settings changes. The R7 has notch filtering which is supposed to really help with BSM falses too. My next RD will be an R7.

I also noticed they were out of stock recently. I just wonder if it means that a new version is about to be released? I would wait until they are back in stock before ordering, just to be sure you don't miss out on something important. You can live for a short time without one, right?

I was on the fence ive always owned V1's but ive got a buddy who is a LEO and we did some tests and there are new modes on the radar guns that the V1 just will not pick up and the R7 gets everything really far off. Ive been a huge V1 fanboi for years but those days are over its antiquated design no longer works in the world we live in.

Sure did this was my fifth one I bought it about 5 months ago as I said I'm a huge fanboi still love it just when actually testing it next to an R7 I realized my baby is old and outdated. I hate this fact but the day has come. Btw the R7 was owned by my buddy and only reason we did this test is cause I'm always V1 this and V1 that he said the R7 is by far the best detector he's ever seen and he's not wrong. |

I gave up my V1 due to constant falsing due to all the blind spot and adaptive cruise signals on newer cars. Had it since 2003 and they no longer have an upgrade path.
I went with an R3, which is pretty solid. I haven't missed the directional arrows as much as I thought. With a little bit of thought, you can usually figure out pretty quickly which direction the signal is coming from. When the R7 came out, I bought one and tried it for a week, and there was so much K band falsing, even in City, that I returned it. I had the latest firmware and database but it is sooooo sensitive. I am sure they will fix the issue but no way is it $200 better than an R3. I also found the location of the mute button to be incredibly bad. Last edited by funked1; 08-23-2019 at 12:47 PM. |

When you want to upgrade, you go on their site and enter your serial number. For mine it said that upgrades are not available.

I think I did. But, to arrange everything, I called them on the phone. The people there who answer the phone are pretty knowledgeable and helpful. My upgrade got me the junk K fighter feature (which is what it sounds like you need) and POP protection, if I recall correctly. The Junk K thing made it good on the highway again - I was having the same problem.
