Sorry to dredge up old thread but I have the same issue on my 18 ZL1, and am scared to take it back to dealer. They already screwed up my tint inside replacing headliner, gouged the front bumper and I had to have it repainted and the clear coat is cloudy on it now, they beat on my car while they had it, at least according to the mychevy app, that they said isn’t really accurate, so pardon me when I’m hesitant on bringing it back for something like this. I’m gonna give it a shot when I have a free weekend, I’m sorry but a $60k Camaro shouldn’t have lines that far off, it’s bad enough the paint sucks and it’ll scratch if you breathe on it heavy, but that’s an ok trade for the performance I guess, just pisses me off my 19 Jetta I could slide down the hood with it being dirty and there won’t be a scuff on it, thanks for the step process

Same issue on my 2019. Looked like an easy fix. However, started to take out the taillight per the suggested videos. Got to the tug part and it was obvious it wasn't coming out. Checked another thread on taillight removal. It said on the 2019 you have to remove the bumper cover to get the taillight housing out. So I quit at that point. Also since the cover has to come off to get the taillight housing out that precludes being able to ziptie it.
Anyone tried anything else or the dealer? |

Have this issue on my 2019 ZLE on the drivers side as well, for us 2019+ guys we can’t do the zip tie through the tail light as we have to remove the entire rear bumper to remove tail lights... I’ve also noticed when washing more water goes up the driver side door and some even makes it to splashing the side of the seat there’s a pretty big gap (enough for my to get my finger in) around where the door meets the side skirt. Also looking for a fix without having to remove that side of the rear bumper.

Same issue with my 19 1SS. Dealers are worthless
Took mine to the dealer twice. First time, they said they "adjusted" the clips on the driver side. Didn't fix it. Second time (last week), they replaced the driver side sublet guide and epoxied the fascia onto the guide (WTF). After leaving it in the sun for a couple of days, the top corner doesn't flare out as much, but there's gap and now the tail light doesn't sit flush anymore. I've asked the dealer to replace the fascia, but they thought it wouldn't solve the problem.
Most likely will go back to the dealer again next week. |

Your car is not special. All of our cars do this.
It's a design flaw due to the square corner, the tolerance of the tab-n-loop and thermal expansion. The traditional fix is a zip-tie through the loop in the bumper cover to constrain the top edge of the bumper at the corner as shown in post #9 of this same thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...40&postcount=9 |

On the other hand, my 2019 has a crappy space on both sides, cold or in direct sunlight (more on the passenger side). Without pulling the bumper off, it looks like the 2019 taillight assembly is noticeably lower on the passenger side (just looking at the gapping around assembly). This in turn doesn’t allow the bumper to sit in it’s proper position. If I felt confident pulling the bumper, I’d try adjusting the corner of the taillight assemblies (maybe there’s some play to work with). Or....maybe not. I’m fascinated that this shit gets through QC. I had to re-adjust the carbon fiber insert so it would rub against the hood, as well as the stops for the hood and the trunk. Simple stuff not done correctly... Maybe my standards are too high? Last edited by Chutzpah; 10-18-2020 at 10:00 PM. |

On your first note, I'm not even sure yours is the same issue as the one we have with the 2016-2018's, though. Your 2016 may not have seen temperatures high enough to exhibit the problem—my rear bumper "aligns itself" perfectly under 75-80 degrees and only then starts to bulge, especially in direct sunlight.

Mine is the same.
All cars seem to have some sort of body issue if you look close enough. Going back quite a ways, I remember a '94 Escort GT I had bought for my wife having an issue. I noticed high up on the A pillar the paint wasn't smooth like is was one piece. I went to the dealer and noted that every single one of the cars had the same thing. Apparently it was where the roof was welded to the structure and Ford did a less than great job at smoothing the area before painting. |

Does anyone have the TSB number for the dealer fix? My dealer couldn't find it.
