I have Black and the only thing keeping me from pulling the wrap is the potential for glare in the PDR.

I believe the main reason for the flat black hood is to reduce glare from the sun reflecting off the hood when racing. At least that is how it was explained in some articles I read.

I remember the black hoods on the original Trans Am series race cars 50 years ago.

The wrap on the 1LE is sorta like the big wing on the STI - it kinda defines the car aesthetically, but a little gimmicky at the same time.

I think it looks great on black, almost great on blue, but I'd probably remove it on anything else.

I've heard that too, and it's laughable at best.

Wrong, it definitely reduces glare. I drive into the sun in the morning (east) and into it in the afternoon (west). Whereas my other white car and my grey truck would shine the sun right into my eyes thanks to the shiny hoods, my flat black Camaro hood has never bothered me.

Not saying it won't reduce glare, but saying it's needed on a track is laughable. If it was needed, we'd see flat black hoods on everything from Audi to Zonda dominating the tracks.

And we’d see it on every other form of motor sports if it really made that much of a difference. They did it back in the 60’s for the lighter unfinished look on old muscle cars but not from a glare issue.

I have a white 2018 2ss 1LE and I had the dealership take the wrap off and painted the mirrors and rear spoiler white. I know it looks like a 2ss camaro, but I like the look. I have been trying to post pictures on here for a while now with no success.

I can't even see my hood from the drivers seat.

The black hood definitely helps to reduce glare. Eye black and the bottom of a baseball brim being black aren't just done without a purpose.

I've been driving (legally) for 32 years and never once had glare from a hood. Glare from shiny parts inside the car - yes - but never from a hood.

Someone said maybe it's for the PDR, and that could make sense.

I wrapped my hood:
1; Too reduce the GLARE I was getting. (Driving for 32 years)
2; Too Protect the paint... drive it 12 months a year.

It serves a purpose.
Personal preference, just like the color we choose.

I get more glare from the two humps over the instrument cluster than from the hood.

The hood wrap just about makes the hood disappear on the PDR, at least you don't notice it too much as the tach bar graph is on top of the hood image.
