20x8.5-20x9.5 tires
Anyone on here ever try 20X8.5 stock wheels with a 295/30 tire on it? Or even a 20x9.5 try a 305/30? I want to go a with a wider tire with my stock redline wheels. I am running 295 on the 20x9.5 no problem. But I think maybe with a 305/30 might be a stretch (no pun intended) anyone that has tried this have any pics ? Or give pointers? Thanks.

As a fan of Continental Extreme Contact Sports, they say 10" minimum for a 305/30. Not sure I'd wanna push it. LOT riding on a proper fit....literally. 30 series is pretty short, and the shorter the sidewall, the less wiggle room you have on what passes as proper fit. I'm sure guys have made it work, but man I dunno. Of course, if lots of people are doing it without issue, perhaps we'll both learn something.
All the being said, if you're not tracking....you could always have the wheels widened. Seen that done plenty. In the thirdgen world, for YEARS the only IROC reps you could get were 17x8. Several people, including a few I know personally would widen to 9.5" to run a 275/40 tire. Check out Weldcraft Wheels. .....fwiw, not saying you can't track it, but......meh.....I dunno |

Unfortunately, I don't think that has the answers you're looking for as at least for Continental EC Sport at 295/30/20 it says 10-11" and for 305/30/20 it says 10.5-11.5"

Wow. Yea man. Thanks for the info. I will look into that. After calling several tire shops. They said it can be done. But will mushroom out a bit. But tbh I haven’t seen anyone on here post that size rim and that size tire. So, I might have my answer there. *♂️

Yeah I wouldn't push it that far. I'm sure people will tell you It CAN be done, but that doesn't make it the best
and safest option. Don't think I'd go more than 285 in the rear, and ultimately you should stick to the manufacturer recommended wheel size.

I’m running 295/30 on rears on the 9.5 wheel. No buldge at all. Running Pirelli p zeros. They are flush. So curious to see how 305/30 fit. Guess no one on here has that set up. Stock wheels with 305’s.

295's on an 8.5" wheel would be way too big, they might get it mounted, but I would say definitely NOT safe... I'd say a 265 would probably be the max on an 8.5" wheel...
Want to go a lot wider, buy yourself a set of MRR017 wheels (10.0" front & 11.0" rears) and you can easily do 285's in front and 305 or 315's in the rear...

I’m running 275/35 right now. No buldge at all. Still flush. I was told that I could run 285 on this same 8.5 wheel. But want to know if anyone has done it with a 295/30?

Biggest sizes you can put on you 8.5/9.5 rims safely are as follows 255/35zr20 and 285/35zr20 respectively.

Depends on the tire. ...and while I normally do NOT listen to the guy making money off me for advice.....tire companies are SO FAR from wanting to recommend something even remotely unsafe. Conti and Mich both same a 295 will work on a 9.5. They seem to agree with you on the 8.5" |

What's the tire manufacturer say about the 275? We all have to make our own choices, but I'm curious if your tire guy said good to go, or the manufacturer said good to go!!!! ....with the 305, did you check the body harness? We know a 305 tire fits on a 43 offset. Stock SS wheels are 39, so technically your 305's are 4mm closer to the inner fender than a 1LE or ZL1 would be. I'd check it. |
