Rocket Chip?
I don't start many threads, so I hope this is allowed. My car is bone stock, but a friend just ordered one of these for his Mustang and hasn't plugged it in yet. Anyone know anything about it? Thoughts?

My only experience with “chips” per se goes back to the 1990’s. Back then there was a lot of snake oil and chips were one of them.

I would be leery of anything that piggybacks on the ECM through the Obd2. Might work but stands a good chance of throwing codes.

Don't listen to what other people say. Chips really work! The top name brand ones add as much horse power as a K&N sticker! And we all know how much hp those suckers add.

Remember the ‘Hot Fire’ spark plugs or whatever the F they were called? “Add 15HP.” (they didn’t) How about Prolong? “No Equal in the World.” (there wasn’t - good thing) I put their auto trans additive in a ‘92 Blazer 700R4 and it COMPLETELY DESTROYED that tranny.
I still ain’t no genius but I’m 30 years wiser!

That might explain a lot! The real tragedy is, it looks like they still sell the crap. 30 years and countless rebuilds later.

You guys are too funny! My car is bone stock, so I wasn't seriously considering it for myself. But everyone here knows so much more than I do about this stuff. I was trying to help my buddy by gaining knowledge here and sharing it with him. He made a mod on a previous Mustang that he regretted.
I've read a lot of your advice on mods and tunes, etc. over the years, but was surprised I had never seen a thread on this particular plug-in "tune," that claims to be "undone" as soon as you unplug it. I do appreciate you sharing these thoughts...and jokes.
