Toyo R888R's
Who are running these on their ZL1's on the stock 20" wheels?
What sizes are you running? What is your opinion of them? Do they hook? Are they as noisy as I read? Any fitment issues? Would you buy them again? Basically any information you could give me i'd appreciate so I can make a decision on what tires to go with next. I'm looking for a sticky street tire.... This car is not daily driven and makes more than stock power. |

on the 20", i think the only size you can really run is 285/30ZR20 front, 315/30ZR20 rear. I keep hoping they will make a 305/30ZR20

Don’t get R888R for track or street, they’re a bad track tire choice and will wear out too fast on street and terrible in wet. If you need 20s PSC2 are much better. And for track only just get Hoosier R7, several x better grip than Toyos on track

I have them on my CTS V they provide exceptional dry traction. My car is making well over 900 RWHP and at 40 mph I can roll to WOT and the tires only slightly haze and at 60 they hook solid.
On top of that they handle in the turns great as they are meant to be a road race tire. |

To each their own, but I am not a fan of the tread pattern (aesthetically). I run the PS4Ss on the street, sticky enough for my driving habits.

The PS4s are a great tire but they are miserable in the cold. I happen to love the look of the R888rs and I hear they are great on the street too. We have a ZL1 in our shop now with them on and the customer said he loves them. |

I have the Toyos in 315 width on my stock wheels. They're wonderful.

Who are running these on their ZL1's on the stock 20" wheels?
I am What sizes are you running? 285/30/20 & 315/30/20 What is your opinion of them? Do they hook? Are they as noisy as I read? Any fitment issues? They hook extremely well, they are very noisy, no fitment issues at all. Would you buy them again? Basically any information you could give me i'd appreciate so I can make a decision on what tires to go with next. Yes i would. They do wear kinda fast but I like the for my track days. I may try Sport Cup 2's this year as I need new tires right now but these Toyos are good Road Course tires and hook up well on the street! I'm looking for a sticky street tire.... This car is not daily driven and makes more than stock power. |

Toyo r888 and r888r’s are track tires that are street able. Cold/on the street you will most likely never get them hot enough to there grip level. Optimum grip is 160-220 deg on them. I’ve used two sets of them on my track car ( Acura Integra ) and when they are cold/ambient temp they have significant less grip then after a lap or two. Your much better off using a rival/re71 etc 200tw street tire. They will have full grip at ambient temps, but over heat quickly on a track

Let everybody talk all of their science and whatnot.
The Toyo R888 and R888R are fantastic choices for high HP street cars that don't want to run a wobbly drag radial or slick. Yes, they have tire hum and wear quickly and you will not want to run them in a downpour or in cold (<40-50 degree) weather. However, these characteristics are true of ANY high performance tire in this class. There are lots of members running 20" R888Rs on stock wheels on this forum, and they, like everybody else I know that runs them, rave about the tires and simply point out their normal trade offs of a high performance tire. A Michelin Sport 4S is not in the same league as a R888R. The 4S is a great street tire for most conditions and handles LIGHT track use. The SC2 is a great tire as well, however, it does not have as much longitudinal traction as the R888/R888R. The RE71 is a great tire too, not a ton of experience with them so I won't speak with them but I've heard great results from the forums. The R888R is my top recommendation for a high performance street tire if you can handle the trade offs. Note: if you can't handle the trade offs of the R888R then you won't be able to handle the trade offs of any tire with similar grip. |

No experience with the r888r, but from everything I've seen and read, I almost got a pair to try instead of buying a separate set of wheels and drag radials. I will most likely replace my stock goodyear's with the 315/30 888r when the time comes.

Please see below for the best description of the tire. I run them on my stock rims and will validate everything below.
