Exhaust Help

Hello,

I have a 2010 SS L99 I just bought with an MBRP cat back already installed. I would like a set of headers and an off-road pipe that will bolt up to the MBRP. Any ideas if most long tubes and off road pipes will fit or, will I need an exhaust shop to marry them up?

Thanks

I believe most will fit. If they don't an exhaust shop can make them very easily. You should be good to go!

What speedster said! Most should just bolt-on.

Yep, they're a bolt on and go mod. Just make sure you get the right connection pipe. You should likely be looking for a 2.5" connection.

the mbrp catback is 3" and has a built in reducer to fit the factory catalytics. I bought that exhaust when it first came out and when i bought LT's they bolted right in except i wanted a true full 3" exhaust so i had a muffler shop cut the 3 to 2.5 reducer off and now i have a true 3" exhaust from header to exhaust tips.

Also.......one word of advice, the MBRP system is LOUD AS F*** and very raspy and obnoxious with LT's and offroad pipes. I had to change out the mufflers that were supplied with the system because it sounded like an old 70s camaro with 40 series 2 chamber flow masters. Maybe you'll like it but i certainly didnt. It sounded really nice with the factory manifolds and catalytics, but not after LT's and offroad pipes.

Here is my car with 1 7/8" Dynatech LT's with 3" offroad mids and the full 3" mbrp system with the MBRP mufflers that came with it (non-cold start up)

Screwing Around

Here is the exact same setup but with the Magnaflow 12229 mufflers instead (3" in and out) (cold start up thats why i only revved it up to about 3700 rpms)

I would suggest probably using hiflo cats to cut down rasp and drone. Just a thought......

Thanks Guys. I have heard that the factory cats flow pretty good. I think I will just keep them on. I will be adding an SLP s/c this fall along with the LTs. I will see how it sounds after the s/c and headers before making a call on the cats and/or different mufflers.
Thanks again!!

the factory cats flow pretty good. How true Is this? Was thinking of solo hi flow cats as one of my 1st mods. Is it a waste of $$$

The factory cats are the biggest choke point of the factory exhaust. Eliminating them or substituting them for high flow cats is one of the most beneficial bolt on mods a person can do, IMO. You not only gain performance, but the cars really come alive in sound volume too.

You can't keep factory cats with LT headers. Shorty headers yes, but long tubes no. Besides, you don't want them. They're AWFUL!!!
