If you have the means I would get one. I thought about getting another Z/28 instead of the ZLE but decided I had already previously owned 2 5th Gen Camaros (my first was a 2013 ZL1) and decided I really wanted to get a 6th Gen. But the Z/28 is absolutely a special car no doubt at all.

My wife told me that the Camaro just fits me more than the Porsche. I guess that means I'm more of just a regular dude than the type that drives Porsches. I do admit I feel a little bit like I'm home with this car. The GT4 was really cool, super fun, but there's just something about a front engine rear wheel drive V8 that cannot be duplicated, no matter how refined a car is. However, if anyone on this forum is thinking about jumping into the Porsche world I would say go for it. The GT4 was my first and they are extremely well built, extremely nice cars. But stand by because you will pay $. Oil change is $450. There is also a 4 year OR 40000 mile service.......$2k.

Oh yes, and by default, the color follows the drive mode (tour is blue, sport is red, track is orange, snow/ice is arctic white).

Ok, here are some pics. At the shop. Getting PPF put on entire front section, rear quarter and rear wing. Matte Black wrap put on roof to match hood. Full Ceramic Pro on entire car. Adding black gas cap and rock guards on front wheels. Having new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires put on. She'll be ready in about a week.

You'll get PPF installed on the side mirrors, too, right? One thing I regret a bit in hindsight is my decision not to have the roof and the A pillars wrapped, my "reward" was a nice chunky rock chip on the passenger side pillar and a smaller one smack in the middle of the roofline just above the windshield. I touched them up, but they're far from invisible. No mudflap-less semi and bro dozer love from this guy.

beautiful car! enjoy her man!!!!
PS I think the discussion 'is the ZL1 1LE too stiff and brutal for most street driving' has a lot to do with what part of the country you live in; I just got mine less than two weeks ago, and have advised a few of my friends who asked, that yes if you plan on driving it a lot or daily driving it, it's way too stiff and brutal. BUT - I live in the Northeast US; and our roads here are total shit especially after each winter. I just had mine out enjoying the sunshine today (haven't had a chance to drive it since last tuesday) and spent 50% of the time trying to dodge potholes and frost heaves (and crumbling pavement; there are stretches here that are pulling up and crumbling). some of those stretches it was like 'bang crash clank bangggg!' and that was me being ultra careful. hopefully the last of the snow and freezing weather is over now here (although it was 31 deg when I left this morning - talk about spinning the rear wheels just trying to pull away from a stop sign at 1200 rpms! those R compounds from the factory are coming off as soon as they are worn out sometime this summer!). typically the road crews will start repaving and trying to patch up all the roads in the next couple months, but even then the roads will be bumpy and sorta crappy (but the big potholes will be filled in at least). I'd bet that folks who live in areas that freeze less frequently and are warmer/dryer could live nicely with the ZLE on a more daily basis. it's just tough for us in the more northern climates to live with it on a everyday basis. but even so, it made me smile so broadly while I was out today it is TOTALLY worth it!!! (and oh I totally agree with your thoughts about having no second thoughts once you received it and drove it; good show!!!) |

Congrats, you won't be disappointed.
Consider holding on to your OEM shoes, until you have given them a go. IMHO, in a warm/dry climate, if performance is your priority you can't beat 3Rs. Although DD comfort and street manners of the 4Ss, especially in wet or in cool temps may be superior, there is a SIGNIFICANT drop off in grip. Camaro is a heavy car, 4Ss get greasy when pushed. FWIW, my ZLE is not a DD and sleeps in the garage when it rains. I took my set Michelins off with about 800 miles on the clock. They weren't for me... Opinions vary. Just my 0.02.
