1LE Paint Pertection Film Question

Are people PPF-ing their hoods? Or do you just replace the factory wrap as it wears? I’m not really sure what to do there.

Xpel stealth wrapped looks the same from outside the car. I noticed a bit more shine from the driver's seat but standing you can't tell

OK cool. I wasn’t sure if stealth would match or not. The guy at the shop thought stealth would have less shine.

Xpel Stealth on it, the graphene coating on top. Looks near factory. Luckily it's really the only satin piece on the car besides the side mirrors, so looks factory.

I only had the front and the mirrors done. I didn't do the hood since it wrapped. I figured that could be replaced later if necessary.

Vinyl is thin. If the wrap is damaged by rocks/debris, there's a good chance your hood is damaged also. Replacing the vinyl wrap in the future will cost close to or as much as PPF, except now you've got an imperfect hood.

Wanted to avoid that so I rather keep the OEM wrap and hood in perfect condition under PPF.

I’ll re-wrap mine one day. Last track day took a chunk of rubber that rubbed on hood and left a scuff. No biggie lost people can’t see

I have several spots on the hood wrap where paint is showing through from rocks/pebbles/bits of tire rubber. Probably best to ppf the hood while it is fresh if you are going to track the car.

I had the hood done (STEK Matte) it added a sheen to it, but it looks great.
Mostly to protect the wrap but also the factory vinyl was showing water spots REALLY easily.

My ppf guy tried the STEK matte over the oem wrap...didn't like the look and how it laid...so he took off the oem wrap and used the dynoblack matte STEK ppf. Looks great!

Nice, didn't know PPF is available in anything other than clear. Looks like a great alternative to vinyl, my '18 is getting close to needing a new hood wrap.

I'm curious about this also. I recently got the car PPF'd but did not do the hood. Now I am questioning if I should PPF it.

That might have been what they used. It only has a sheen when you're looking out of the car from the driver's seat. If not, that's good to know about.

Matte wrap over a regulars car give it that nice frosted look, and great protection.
