Yes Gen5Diy offers the conversion. It will set you back $1800.

Here’s the link https://www.gen5diy.com/collections/...or-upgrade-kit

Unfortunately that is for 2019's only.

Most likely will not be able to upgrade to 2019+ infotainment at all, and the mirror would be a pretty large undertaking.

He is already working on the conversion and has the kit for the rearview camera mirror.

If anyone can do it it's Ofer.

He has the ability of having cars in house to work on them.

Just curious if anyone that wants to do this has driven a car with the rearview mirror? I had a CT6 loaner and I absolutely could not stand the mirror. It sounds great to me on paper but it just doesn't work for me. I'm wondering if I'm the only one.

Care to explain what (about the mirror) didn't work for you? For those of us who have not driven with it, this is not enough info. It seems like having an unobstructed view to the rear of the Camaro can only be a good thing. Thanks in advance...

I actually really like that new mirror but was sad to see it wasnt even on the 3LT models and only the 2SS and ZL1. For how much im paying I feel like it should have been thrown in.

Agreed. I was surprised that my car didn't have that or wireless charging. Oh well.

There were 2 big issues for me.

The first one is hard to describe but basically, my eyes were having a hard time focusing on the picture every time I looked at it. If you're looking down the road in front of you and then look in your mirror, the objects appear to be the same distance away so you're eyes don't need to refocus. With these, you have to refocus on the screen.

Try this... Park somewhere. Bring up a picture on your phone and put your phone directly in front of your mirror (like your phone screen is the screen of the mirror). Now focus on an object 50-100 feet in front of you like you would when you're driving. Look up quick and try to focus on your phone, then back in front of your car. This should be like you were driving and quickly checking your rearview mirror. For me, either I couldn't completely focus on the rearview or I had to stare too long to focus and I was looking away from where I was going. It was very unpleasant for me.

Second thing... You know how LED headlights strobe when you see video of a car on YouTube? They do that when they're behind you in traffic. It's not as pronounced driving but it is crazy bad when you're sitting at a red light and the person behind you has LED DRLs.

I thought these things would be the coolest thing to have. After 45 minutes, I noped the hell out of it.

Yeah, MSRP of 38.5k I would appreciate that camera. I don't care too much for wireless charging but feel like it should be included. Especially with the price tag.

Wow...really interesting. That's good info. Appreciate the additional detail. Definitely something to test before buying. As I understand it, though, the rear mirror camera can be turned off and the mirror itself can be used like a normal rear-view mirror...is that accurate?

Sh*t man, I know exactly what you're talking about, on both counts. Thanks a lot for sharing this info. This can be a killer strain on one's eyes in the long run, unless the resolution is better than retina and can completely fool your brain not to try and focus at the pixel level.

I know the mirror can be turned off, but then what's the point, plus the regular "mode" mirror isn't auto-dimming, right?

Yes, you guys are correct, the mirror can be turned off at any time by using the lever that is typically in the bottom of mirrors. I actually drove the car for a couple hours not knowing it had a camera! I was bummed because I really wanted to try it but I was expecting an On/Off button somewhere. Seeing the same lever as every other mirror, I just assumed the car didn't have that option. When off, you can't really can't tell it's a screen.

Here's the kicker. When I first turned it on, it looked really crappy. I looked online and it said these are better when the whole mirror is angled directly perpendicular to you. You don't have to have it adjusted to see out back, you just angle the screen right at you and you can see it better. BUT when I turned it off, I was looking at my reflection. You can toggle On/Off but you would have to make a massive mirror adjustment each time. I honestly can't see a scenario when I would be using the normal mirror and think the camera would be better.

I'm not sure about auto-dimming. I drove it at night using the normal mirror after I resigned to the fact I couldn't take the camera and I don't recall having any issues with not being able to dim it.
