Amp Ground noise

Getting a ground noise with no inputs connected to the amplifier, any ideas? When only the radio is on, there is a clean signal. But once accessory power is on the noise starts.

The amp is grounded to the battery.

Interestingly it comes and goes when the DRLs are on.

No external amp, getting signal from a PAC Amp Pro. However it’s not from the input because when I unplug the input from the amp the noise remains.

So the noise comes and goes with the DRL and does it with or without input connected.

You could try moving the ground to a different point. Sounds to me like the amp is just touchy.

Use the ground stud in front of the battery negative ground stud.

Ended up being the driverside passive crossover. There was some wiring running by it.

Thanks for posting the root cause. Where is your passive crossover located?

The crossovers were located in the footwell behind the carpet. So by drivers left foot and passengers right foot. I would recommend installing them in the trunk next to the amp.

I have a quasi three way setup up front, with passive crossovers between my tweeter and 2.7" midrange driver. As you mentioned, we mounted them in the trunk near the amplifier.
