Battery dead, quick recharge, WTF?
I'll put this here and would like some of the experts to chime in. My battery is one-year-old. It has never been anything less than 12.5 -12.4. I have a voltmeter on it once a month. Came downstairs today and noticed the car was unlocked, door closed but unlocked, and the car completely dead. Would not even click for restart. Hooked up a jump pack and it started immediately, drove five Miles for an errand, came back, turn it off after one minute and a flash of the lights to eliminate the surface charge and it read 12.2.
What I am wondering, is if you leave something on like a door open or ajar , will this just not let the car sleep? Something killed it overnight, remains to be seen whether it's a permanent drain. I've also disconnected the curb alert which is never been a problem in 16 months. opin? Will do a battery load test later in the week..... |

I have had some issues with the ACDelco batteries, one in my SRX wasn't that old, was working great, one morning last year, went to start it after sitting overnight in my garage, wouldn't start, was stone dead! Took into the dealer, they tested the battery, had a bad cell and replaced under warranty. Batteries aren't what they used to be anymore. I remember back in the day those 72 and 84 month batteries used to last that long, not anymore!

Whenever my car has to sit over two weeks, I connect my Battery Tender, so no issues...
But I have read about a lot of people on here and on the Facebook group who had a bad battery. |

I've gone five weeks with a disconnected battery, reconnected and had no problem. This is a security system short. I've ascertained the car cannot go to sleep for some reason, when the alarm goes on.

Glen e, I found this same issue Friday morning. Car's been sitting for a little over two weeks. Our owners manual doesn't indicate anything other than pulling the negative cable if left unused for an extended period. I've NOT used a charger as I thought I was starting/driving it enough.
Anyway, here is what I came across on the SSforums. It is from 2014, and a different Chevy product, so I don't know if it'll apply to our car. And, I cannot check due to my now dead battery: http://www.ssforums.com/forum/how-fo...tery-life.html Start your car. Activate the hazard flashers. Press on the brake pedal and hold. Press and hold the start/stop button for 15 seconds. Your DIC will inform you of being in transport mode. To go back to normal, do the same procedure again. This should help with the long , cold portion of your winters and preserve your battery. Remember these cars have AGM batteries--Absorbed Glass Mat-- like an 'Optima' battery. |

Camaro works the same...with transport mode, you can easily get a month without a charger.

I've been having dead battery issues. Parasitic draw is pretty bad. .187 - .278 amps with everything off.
Hooked up multimeter and pulled fuses nothing. Buddy of mine that's a tech at Toyota suggested pull all the fuses and insert one at a time back. Finally found the problem. Rear fuse box F23 BCM 1 and front fuse box F26 BCM 2 cause it to spikes to .187 from .011 problem finding is both fuses cause it to jump so pulling one at a time didn't allow it to drop. Have to have both fuses out at the same time. Next step have to figure out what's up with the BCM |
