Hello all. I am a Gm service tech. Just wanted to get some info out there. The seat sticking is a known issue. Gm released a bulletin about. Supposedly a burr in the recliner gear from manufacturing causes the issue. Recommended action is to apply pressure or hit seat while operating switch. If seat frees up, then run it just off the full travel stop then back to full travel like 5 times.
I have had 2 Camaros and a new Malibu do this. 2 cars freed up and the 2nd Camaro I had to replace the seat back.

This is one reason I wanted to wait for a 2017 so the can work out kinks like this.

Also I think the power recline is ridiculous.
A power recliner is slower to move and adds to production cost. If I could order my 2017 1SS with manual seats I sure would.

My poor wife was miserable on our recent 500mile trip. They could have allowed the passenger seat to recline just a tini-tiny bit more :/

It happened on my driver seat during a 4 hour trip back... 3 hours in and I was like man I wanna relax a bit let me recline the seat... Nope... The one thing I forgot to test while I was going over it before driving back and I even read up on it before buying.

Gotta take mine in for this. Passenger seat stopped reclining today. Luckily it is stuck at a comfortable angle. Makes noise, but won't move either way. Tried to assist it forward/back as listed above, didn't budge. 1800 miles, first issue.

I had this fixed at the dealer. It's weird, if you see it moving forward from the most reclined, the left side of the seat moves first, then the right side.

When it's at its most reclined, it'll take a second or two before the seat starts to move.

I agree. Power recline (and for/aft power for that matter) is a solution to a problem that didn't exist. I'd pay extra to get manual operation for both so it can be quickly adjusted.

Thank you. I've been waiting for someone to do this. Its quite easy to actually remove the seat back, i just have not had time to do this yet.

Kind of bummed as well that my 2010 could recline both seats fully (power adjustable) and my 2016 is not able to do so. It'd be nice for at least the passenger seat to be able to (I don't usually lie flat while driving)

+1 on the beer!

I don't lay flat either but I like to have full seat adjustments to my comfort.
Did it to driver and passenger side.
