On a long roadtrip, as I did yesterday, the limited recline on these seats are terrible. My wife wasn't feeling well, and wanted to sleep. Well, its difficult to sleep with the limited recline. I am not sure why they only recline a little bit???

Wonder if Gm is starting to fix this problem from factory yet. My car will have a build date soon at 3000 status now. Be nice to see some of the small issues fixed from factory.

A $45k car, the seats should recline flat and come with blankets and a pillow.

My guess as to why GM limited the recline angle is because when the seat is in the most aft position / most reclined....it's about 1/2" away from the rear seats. I'm hoping they come out with a fix...Not liking the limited reclined position for just normal everyday driving.

I have the same issue with the passenger seat not reclining at all. When I bought my car the driver seat wasn't reclining at all and they told to bring it back and they'll fix it. I brought it back to get it checked out and they were giving me a hard time because they didn't know when they would be getting the part. Took them a week to get it fixed. They told me that they took the part out of another 2ss that they had. I took the car home and few days later I was cleaning and try moving my passenger seat and it wouldn't work when it was working when I bought the car. I'm sure they just swapped the parts in my car and figured I wouldn't notice?!? or by the time I noticed they would have the part in stock?!? Anyways brought my car back in today to get that fixed and get the oil panel checked out. Make sure you guys check both seats before leaving the dealer. Hopefully they do it right this time.

Yesterday, my passenger seatback would not recline. I just tried the recommended procedure of applying back and forth pressure to the seatback while moving the recline switch up and down. That did the trick. I hope this isn't a frequent occurrence, otherwise to the dealer it will go.

I have to say after one month and 3,000 miles, this was the only problem I've had to date. I love this car and all its power.

Exclamation

I had this exact problem. Took it in to the dealership, after a whole day of having the car they called and me said they needed to order a part for the seat. 3 weeks later they finally get the part, the fix took a whole day again but is now working fine.
The seats do only recline to a certain angle and not all the way down. It's because the backseat is that much closer to the seats now and will not be able to recline further than a certain amount. hope this helps and answers some of you guys questions. It's definitely a bit of a inconvenience but I still prefer the 6th gen over my 2012 2LT RS.

I'm having the same issue with my passenger seat. Dealer says part is on back order, so basically my car is sitting at the dealership awaiting the part. Did anyone else have to leave their car at the dealer until the part arrived? I was told they can't release my car because it's under a work order. Is that true?

Not true at all. I drove my car home and waited until the part arrived. It's only a seat problem, no need to leave it at the dealership. It's safe to drive.

I drove my car for a week while waiting for the new seat frame to show up at the dealer.

Just wondering, has anyone received a fix that will allow the seat back rest to recline back fully so that it is touching the rear seat ?

No and you can bet it will never happen.

Haha!!! I can't believe I'm the not the only one in a small sample size who took delivery of a car with a non-functioning seat!!! omg... I mean I can expect issues but this is pretty bad.

*edit* after trying in my 3 yr old's car seat a f putting g him back there ... I think he was locking the seat forward a little as I was trying the switch. Sure enough the seat started working again!

Like another guy said ... I'm not sure this "fix" (? ) will last long but hopefully that's all that it took to reset the mechanism.

Now we can go on our trip together tomorrow!! Although I am mosly just taking the car to try it out and drive it since it's new....we did get the Yukon for family trips, primarily.
