I just found a deal on some 255/35/zr20 continental extreme contact tires. Like new. $240 for set of 4 obo..
Would they work replacing my current 245/40ZR20 mounted on the factory Black 20" wheels..
I don't need tires yet but I will some time...

They'll fit but those are 0.7" smaller diameter than stock. What model are they?

They've been out of production for a few years. They're probably old stock, that's why the tires are so cheap.

Think there worth $240?
TireRack has them listed at $205
I know they're wider, any chance of rubbing anywhere or speedo issue's?

after actually stopping at a DIRECT TIRE LOCATION , they told me it would be little less then grand to install all 4 and that includes the certificates that is a automatic fix or replace tire if any damage for up to 3 years at their locations. Im thinking of doing it but still need to get my self a spare of some sort just incase

Hey urirx98,

I went ahead and purchased the Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks from my Chevy Dealer. They were a bit more than tire rack, but I was able to score the $70 rebate for 4 tires. The Firehawks are rated for the 17 SS Camaro so they were a good fit. The service manager said they had to cut the Goodyear runflats off the rims they were on there so tight. These Firehawks are very quiet and so far so good with ride. Plus I saved $500 compared to the Michelins, which I can always go to later.

I dont care about getting a flat, now that I can get a 5-year warranty (I know the tires wont last 5 years) for $295 from the dealer. They cover fixing the flats as well as replacement of each tire up to 4x during the life of the tire). I drive 2 miles each way to work daily so I figure I will put 5-6000 miles on the tires per year, maybe a bit more with the top down on the way to the Keys from Jax. But again, they seem to be a good option for me, for now. Best of luck with your search!

It's up to you on if they're worth it. I don't know the age of them.

Tirerack has the "newer" model, the DWS06, listed for $205/ea. They're still a pretty old tire, came out 2015. So any of the DWS will be at least 3 years old.

There shouldn't be any problem with rubbing. Speedo, yes a bit. I'm seeing the speedo read 63.4 vs 65 mph on the stock tires.

If you want to be a guinea pig, the new General G-Max RS has tested better than the Indy 500 plus they're much cheaper especially with the $70 rebate right now.

....Has tested better - In Some Areas - than the Indy 500... Fixed it for you.

In Dry Track
Cornering Stability - Last (Indy 500 - First)

Steering Response - Last (Indy 500 - First)
Braking Modulation - Last (Indy 500 - First)
Handling Predictability - Last (Indy 500 - First)
Overall Track rating - Last (Indy 500 - First)

So for a guy that daily drives his car with no tracking ever, the RS would be a better choice, would it not?

From what the guy at Direct Tire said, The RS is a directional tire and can not be moved, its got a less wear warranty and would give you a little more performance. The AS-5 can actually be moved from left to right and DT will actually do it every 5k miles for free if you purchase from them and again the certificates for 3 years repair or replace is a warranty you cant beat

Well sure, the RS is a summer tire vs the all season AS-05. Summer tires usually wear faster regardless.
