No automatic (touchless) car wash?

According to the manual, GM doesn’t recommend automatic car wash:
Quote:
Some automatic car washes can cause damage to the vehicle, wheels, ground effects and convertible top. Automatic car washes are not recommended, due to lack of clearance for the undercarriage and/or wide rear tires and wheels. See "Washing the Vehicle" under Exterior Care
Does this apply for my base LT RS with no ground effects?

Thanks!

Your car will be fine in a touchless wash. Find one that does not run the wheels in a track.

I have a 1LT RS and have been through several touchless automatic car washes and never had a single issue

Touchless is fine but keep in mind, whatever wax, sealant or coating will be GONE! Touchless uses very strong detergents to clean the car.

Oh wow, didn't know they are so powerful. What do you suggest? I have a pressure washer at home, quality soap and everything, but since I live in Canada, is too cold to wash the car in the driveway... so until end of May, how do I wash it?

You probably have a local detailer somewhere nearby. They can give you a quality wash without scratching the paint.

Anytime above freezing you can do the rinseless wash method.

Top 3 ingredients in touchless automated car wash detergents.

Sodium Tripolyphosphate:: used to clean concrete oil stains

Sodium Metasilicate Pentahydrate Sodium metasilicates are non-flammable, non-explosive, and non-toxic. They are, however, alkaline materials and pose hazards to the skin and eyes. The physiological effects of contact range from causing irritation to causing chemical burns. Sodium metasilicate should be handled with care.

Sodium Sesquicarbonate:: is 11 on the pH scale!!

So ya, stuff is strong as hell.

I use a touchless all the time. No wash, just rinse.

Then I go home and do a rinseless. See the instructions the way I do it in my signature below.

Exactly. High pressure rinse to get the dirt and grit off... followed by a low pressure wash with agitation and a pH neutral soap to remove oils and grease.

Best of both worlds.
