Max boost, stock tune? Before codes?
I know that this has been discussed before, but I can’t seem to find the information. What is the limit for boost on a stock tune before setting codes. And I know the answer is not “anything more than stock”. I’ve raised my boost about 3 psi from stock, without pulleys and the ECM is still in control with no codes or issues. I’m just wondering where the ECM starts setting codes. Boost starts at 1500 rpms now, torque is out of control, breaks traction at 60 mph on stage 1 of the settings. Thanks for any help.

How do you raise boost 3psi without pulleys, potato in the exhaust pipe?
A better question would be needs a tune badly rather than throwing a code. It might run and not throw a code but be borderline to engine damage. |

As a mechanic and previous engineer, I know how to make things work. GM has incorporated things on certain parts and I exploited them.

More boost, zero tuning...I would love to see your AFR's...

And that’s my question, if the MAF, MAP, O2’s, TPS, and ECM are monitoring the system and not setting codes for lean or over boost, where is that specific limit. The stock tune does not “cut off” at exactly 10 psi and 10.5 psi automatically destroys the engine. So what is the CEL trigger point and automatic de tune?

Obviously the ECM sees no issue. Or my O2’s don’t work.

The ol' boost bypass mod huh?

No, not really. ECM still controls it. What specifically are you referring to?

Why are you being so secret about your modification?
Narrow band O2 sensors won't control fueling at WOT or even know that it's going lean for the amount of boost being added. It should have overboost and underboost DTCs but I don't know what they are set at. And I don't know if their settings are such that they will keep a lean condition at WOT from happening. |

I made 540 wheel with the stock tune.
Air intake Adjusted boost bypass valve(it picked up +1-2lbs of boost when cold out) Ported stock throttle body Cat delete. No codes as I turned off the downstream 02's with HP Tuners. When it got cold out the injectors were 101%. Otherwise it ran fine.
