2017 Z/28 rendering.

I like it. Just a rendering though.

A lot of purists are already upset about the 427 (vs. 302)... can't imagine how they'd react to a blower. Makes me chuckle.. if people REALLY want to go the purist route then get rid of computers, fuel injection (and bring back the choke control). Anybody going to pony up for that? Doubt it. I do hope the Z/28 name stays in moth balls, but that's just me being selfish.

Tires are too skinny to be a Z/28, it must be a Z28..

I don't think something as raw as the Z/28 will come out again.

Agreed. The ZL1 is a no brainer, why would they put the same motor in a track version for more money that failed miserably? Neither would have an NA 7 litre, these are very special cars no matter how poorly they sold.

So why is a Chevy not working on a GT 350 fighter first? Ford has no ZL1 fighter right now.

Reviewers only raved of them. It was never a fail. They made too many for the amount of possible buyers, this was a miscalculation, but they will sell, and history will show that they will continue to be loved. Big block Cuda's, Chevelle's, etc in the early 70's sat on lots because of insurance and rising gas prices prevented sales. These cars are and were loved, the slow sales were sad, but they were never a fail.
Hey look, I love them ,have one same flavor as yours, I am speaking from a sales standpoint alone. Many dealers ate these, there are still quite a few on lots,it's a niche car that missed due to price point and #s produced. Hellcats have flown off the shelves, and there are dozens of these still waiting for first owners. It's a misunderstood car, and won't win at the stoplight nationals. They indeed miscalculated, and why it was a sales fail. Part of where they blew it was releasing, and pricing it so close to a new Z06.It was and is a brutish spartan car with race tires that follow every little track in the road. Every 25 year old would gladly look beyond that, But at 75k only 40+ year olds can afford it an most of them went for the Z06 with big #'s. I love mine, have been a Camaro enthusiast for decades. These IMO have EXACTLY the same set of dynamics as the COPO and ZL1 cars from the glory days-engineers that bamboozled GM execs in to approving expensive factory built purpose cars that sat on lots, in fields, and won championships before folks deemed them "collectible" and started to gobble them up. These will go the way of the GNX, et all in due time no question my mind. Feel very fortunate to own one, it's a piece of GM performance history.

I have to agree with LateBrakeU2... GM originally wanted to make a lot more than the 1750-ish that were built. Cars sat on lots for months and are still sitting. Why? Interior is fairly plain, stereo (if you have one) is weak, misinformation about the LS7 issues, stories of how loud and harsh it is, etc. Face it, most people aren't in the market to spend $75K (or less, apparently) on a dedicated track car. Also, look at how many used are sale with very few miles. It's simply too hard core for most.

Know what? Good for us owners because it's unlikely they'll ever build anything this hard core again.

Also, some will point to the GT350's success (it will most likely sell more than 1750 total) as an example of a hard core car that sells. However, magna ride is plush compared to the DSSV setup (i know from having owned a ZL1) and its interior is far more to the liking of the masses (not me, though). Even the GT350 R will not be as hard core (again, due to magna ride and interior)

IMO that looks like a ZL1 to me, in order for it to be a Z/28 it will need better Aero package in the front and side's and a nice high revving motor, Z?28 needs to stay NA all ways.

Am I the only one that kind of hopes they don't make a Gen 6 Z/28?

Because GM doesn't have an engine comparable to the 5.2 Voodoo.
