If your insurance company is raising your rates due to “inflation”, just shop around. Mine went up by close to $800 for I think the whole year. There was no way I was gonna pay that. I got slightly more coverage through another company for only a slight increase(maybe $200 extra for the year).

This is just about exactly what I'm paying per 6 months for my 2023 ZL1 with same coverages through State Farm in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm at 109 and change per month(About 655 for 6 months). 45 years old , no speeding ticket or accidents. I currently have garage insurance on it since it's stored for winter in my garage from Oct 31st to about May 1st. It's only $22.00/month for that. Basically covers, fire, theft, damage etc.. if it occurs in the garage(essentially taking collision off since it's not being driven for 6-7 months).

While your not wrong it also cuts both ways. I have a 14 Honda Valkyrie and my wife rode a 07 Honda Rebel for a few seasons. When we sold the Rebel and I called my broker he said the multi vehicle discount is more then the rebel's entire rate if we back it down to minimals and drop all extras. So we kept the Rebel with reduced rates and it saves me money vs had I called the Insurance company they'd have just removed it and I'd have seen my rate jump.

As far as how he gets paid it comes from the insurance companies "finders fee" budget paid by ALL members premiums not directly from my premiums. I tried a few times to go right to the companies he suggested and I either was quoted with higher rates because they didn't want to give me the discounts my Broker knew I was entitled to, even rates so no skin off my back or they refused to give me a quote without already being a member or having an "in" with a current member.

I've only seen once where he couldn't beat an Agent and he came right out and said to stay with the company they were with.

Too many variables for anything even approximating an apples-to-apples comparison, but Rogueleader's well-expressed summary essentially matches what my experience(s) have been when using a broker.

Mine went up double since 2017. 1k per 6 months for 10-20.

my 18 2ss 1le is $1090/yr with $500 deductible, where as for some odd reason, my daily beater, a 2007 Honda CRV with liability only is $540/yr...wrap your head around that!

Just a bit under $1300 Canadian for 1 year full coverage, full replacement value of $125K. I'm running Alberta plates as it's $4K a year to run BC plates.
