3rd set of rear tires in 12K miles
Like it says, maybe my stupidity can help others if they are new ZL1 owners like me.
Car is 2022 ZL1 manual tranny stock apart from headers, exh, CAI and modest tune. Driving is 100% DD, but of note: I have switchback mountains close by and lots of highway on ramps in my commute. I never use TC unless it's raining, I enjoy trying my best to be my cars traction control with the manual. I don't smoke my tires intentionally, I try to push it to learn how to keep it hooked as much as I can. The rear tire #s: Stock 305 F1: lasted for 7500 miles, grip was lol until 3rd gear *Went wider in rear with new rims* 335/30R20 CUP2: lasted for 5000 miles, grip was lol until 3rd gear 335/30R20 Mich SuperSport: just got em mounted and HOLY CRAP those things HOOK! What I have learned the stupid and expensive way: DONT use track tires for DD (not just for the obvious but also cuz they won't grip for crap). In my 20 ish minute commute, or occasional romp up the twisties, I don't ever get the cup2 rears I had hot enuf for them to grip like they are meant to. I was told if I were to track the car the cup2 would smoke the Supersports, cuz they would get up to temp. In the DD world tho, the supersports are way more grippy cuz they essentially are at their grippiest damn near cold. Also they should last me longer than one oil change lol. Just wanted to geek out on how much I love the Supersport tires, as well as save any other new ZL1 owners the same headache that my stupidity caused me. Cheers |

Thanks to “stupidity” (your words) you have been able to do some test and tuning with different brand tires on similar types of roads in my area with the foothills of the Rocky mountains only 20 minutes away so that is some very good insight for me for my next purchase. Thank you!

I'm not Ms Daisy to throttle and I managed over 20K miles from set of Pilot Sport 4S!
The other 10K.. 1 pair of blizzak LM32, 1 set of Stock Super car 3R, one set of Re-71R and on second set of RE-71R and now set of RT660! I guess 12K is pretty dam good
