Seat Belt Ratchet System - no longer made???

Hi All,

Does anyone know the part number for 6th gen Camaro driver's side seat belt with the locking ratchet system?

Background story:
My 2018 Camaro SS's seat belt ratchet system stopped working (where you pull the belt all the way out and then ratchets along and it can lock you in place - critical for a 3-point Simpson harness safety system). I had the dealership replace it with a new unit and it also did not function. When we dug into the issue, apparently the seat belts are no longer manufactured with the ratchet system (and the old part numbers are no longer visible).

They said if I can find an older part number from a unit that did have the ratchet system, they would contact every dealership available to see if anyone has one of the old units in stock and would buy and install it because of the error they made.

So, my ask to this community - if anyone has one of the older belts from the 6th gen camaro that has the locking ratchet system and the ability to find the part number, please share it with the Camaro6 community (I'm likely not the only person who will face this issue.

Have you considered looking for a company that could repair it?

There was a thread on this topic. Maybe this helps you find one.

Unfortunately I didn’t realize until a few days after the fix and the dealership had discarded, but great thought!

I am still looking for the ratcheting seat belt part numbers, so just giving the thread a bump.

UPDATE:
My local Chevy dealership that made the mistake has continued to follow up for me and had a visit from the regional Camaro Parts rep this past week. He confirmed that the SS no longer comes with the ratcheting belt, but that the ZL1 and the ZLE do. So the shop foreman ordered me a new ZL1 belt (in red, by my request) and had it delivered and installed within a day. For anyone in my region, Josh over at Commonwealth Chevrolet is a GREAT Camaro resource. The small belt mistake is nothing compared to all the wins that guy has pulled out for me over the years.

Anyway, for anyone else needing to have a dual purpose track and daily driver and also wanting to get as much safety out of the car as is available, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE belts do have the ratcheting mechanism allowing the use of a Simpson Hybrid S neck restraint system. This is not as good as a full harness set up, but is far better than no set up.

Stay safe and keep the shiny side up my friends.

Glad to know you've at least made -some- progress with this! Also, good to know that you've got a good dealership you're working with.

Shout out to you for this thread link. It is what helped ID that there were still Camaro’s with the ratcheting belt, but only in the ZL1 and ZLE. Thanks for posting it in the thread - super helpful!
