I think traditionally a new generation of car has come with new styling.

From what we've seen, guessed and surmised, the 6th gen looks to be about as much of a change visually from the current 5th gen as the current refreshed 5th gen was from the original.

The vast majority of the people out there have no idea what's going on underneath. They just see what's on top.

And in that sense, I also struggle with how this doesn't feel like more than refresh #2 for the 5th gen design...even though underneath it's an entire different beast.

Ummmm...we have not seen the car yet. Camo wouldn't be used by EVERY manufacturer if it didn't work. Will it look like a Camaro....YES, and it should.

From very early on, GM has stated an evolutionary design.

And no, it does not look like the 5th gen. Have you not seen the cameo'ed pics or even better, Chazcron's renderings? It may have the same silhouette/profile, but that's about it.

So far, from what the renders and camo'd cars look like, it does look like a "re-freshed 5th Gen"....I think it is only natural for what is called a new generation to look differently....Perhaps not "revolutionary" different, but different enough to be recognized as a new generation...And so far, the styling and renders look very similar to a 5th Gen. Yes, there are differences and hopefully once the car is revealed it will have it's own distinct appearance...

As has been stated before, not everyone is aware of all, if any, of the internal and unseen differences in platform, power-train, and interior. All they see is the styling and body. And to say it doesn't look like a 5thGen at this point is a little naïve.

Yes, a new gen it is with powertrain, platform, interior. That is all new and different for this generation. So when someone wonders why the styling and looks of the outside (from what we know so far), aren't also significantly new and different, you shouldn't be that hard on those who expected something much different from a 5th gen, on the outside also.

It's a valid point and critique of the styling we have seen so far, and a fair opinion on how it looks in the eye of the beholder. Hopefully the reveal and details will make it more distinct and unique as a new Generation Camaro.

Camaro's own history of Gen 1 thru 5 styling would suggest more of a visual difference for the 6thGen. And that would not be an unreasonable expectation.

Yep, I was really hoping for a major change in the body. I still love the 5th gen and all the advances in the upcoming 6th gen but wanted a revolutionary change in the body.

Three things:

- There's only so much you can do with a 3-box design.

- The car is a muscle/pony car. Not a sports car. It will never look like the sports cars at the top of this thread. That's what Corvette is for. Corvette is Chevrolet's and GM's sports car.

- The car has to look like a Camaro. And I think that most people would agree that the quintessential Camaro is a '69. It looks like, for the time being, it will have those rough proportions and rough looks.

I'm sure once it's actually unveiled and inevitably gets parked next to a 5th gen for comparison's sake, we'll all see just how different it really is. No use really worrying about if it looks too much like a 5th gen yet, considering it hasn't been revealed. All we know for now is information they've let out, which is that it only shares two parts with the 5th gen: SS badge and the bowtie emblem on the taillamp panel. You can safely say it's a new generation of camaro.

Not sure what people had in mind but let's use the Subaru for example. The WRX has gone through several generations since coming to America. Everyone readily identifiable as a WRX. Yet everyone different and the same. A very slight external mod yet completely different underneath. See the point now?

I want my Camaro to be and always be a Muscle car. not a euro sports car. I thought the 5th gen car as the best since the 69 model. Not happy about the downsizing, even though I know why it needs to be done.

I think GM should continue on its path of making it the best car for the money. Many members on this forum keep saying they want it to stay a muscle car, but if you look at what we are getting, the newer cars are faster than the "muscle" cars of yesteryear AND can make a turn at high speed.

As far as muscle car styling, its all around bad for performance. It makes the drag increase significantly, which hurts both fuel economy and high speed performance. At some point, the Camaro has to step into the 21st century in terms of what we now know about aerodynamics and wind resistance that we did not know 50 years ago.

Yep look at the 911 and Miata. Both very iconic sports cars which have never undergone a "revolutionary" change but both continue to be excellent sellers. Think about the success of the 5th gen due to its styling. It's sales are not hurting because of looks but because the interior/features are dated and competition just fixed both of those problems in their cars. Ford did not make an evolutionary jump in design with the recent gen. Just like GM they chose their late 60s car as the basis for their past two generations in design. As much as we (a very tiny selection) of buyers want a big change, it is a risky adventure to take in an important car segment. How many 20-30 somethings actually know what a second gen Camaro looks like or think it looks better than 1st gen....not many I'm willing to bet.
