You do realize that by removing the factory g3s you are removing the tires that this car was intended to use. You will be missing out on the true handling characteristics that were intended by the design engineers. Your opinion that the g3s are trash is not what people that have used and experienced this combination are saying.. the g3s hold up fantastic on track, handle great, and wear pretty darn good. For street driving they are also pretty amazing except in cold or rain. Calling them trash kinda shows your knowledge of the tire and its intended purpose.

I disagree with your statement that they are trash, however they do wear out quickly. I downgraded to Nitto NT555 G2 for daily driving purposes. They feel ok overall when compared to the stock 1LE tires (acceleration, braking, slalom), however they do feel a little more "rubbery" around the corners.

Obviously a guy that bought his car for the cool-factor and not for the capability
[No offense in this, just stating the reality based off the comment on the tires] Velasco1LE, I would move this question to the general wheel/tire section. This section is more 1LE-specific and most people here are track guys. |

Budget oe sized summer tires: (street use - not for track day use)
Federal ST1 Falken fk453 Firehawk Indy 500 Cooper rs3-s Accelera PHI II (all season) I'd pony up for some Conti ecs personally - great in the rain and much cheaper then the mich PS4S Last edited by Lt Berserker; 03-05-2019 at 06:23 PM. |

I definitely disagree. The GY’s aren’t trash. I have 11,000+ miles on mine and they still have decent tread on them. I’ve driven them in driving rain, in the cold, and in both. As long as you account for their limitations in those conditions you’ll be fine. I left work today and the tire temp indicator was ‘cold’ 38 degrees outside. I took it easy and within about 5 miles they were ‘cool’ and 5 miles later ‘normal’. They do wear quicker.
I’m hoping the Bridgestones will give me an acceptable performance/life compromise. I put enough miles on my 1LE to need new GY’s every 10 months. |

Exactly.
The goodyear SC3's are the BEST value, period. How you didn't factor replacement tires into your budget when you bought the car is beyond me. Also expecting a track car to have its tires last 30k miles is hilarious. Why didn't you just buy the regular SS? Or the LT?

*Buy's 1LE* Complains track tires are trash & expensive! What you didn't know that buying the car? G3's are amazing pretty close to Cup 2's. You could be like most pansy 1LE guys that i see and buy some crap all season tires since your car is prob for show anyways. Happy hunting

There's really no tire in that category that is going to give you mileage, there's just not. Even the manuf halves the mileage warranty of tires when in a staggered arrangement. Just saying.

Better off buying set of 18x8 wheels in the long run. More tire options with all seasons and winter tires available.
20x10 and 20x11 only have expensive low tread wear options. In reality the OE goodyear tire is one of the better options for the size. (when i bought my second set they were definitely the cheapest and i feel they are tough to beat for combined track and street duty) |

Wow. A lot of hate in this thread. Lt Berserker looks to be sticking to the topic. Those looks like your best options if you’re looking for tires on the less expensive end of the spectrum.
Everyone else. Stay classy. |
