Has anybody installed an LS3 in a 93-97 LT1 car?
I have a 94 Z28, thinking about doing an engine swap. The engine part should be pretty straight forward, but thinking about fuel system issues with the FPCM on the LS3's. I guess that can always be tuned out? Anybody heard of doing a engine swap like this?

Why do you want to get rid of the LT1? Blown head gasket or something?

LT1s are crap...unless its an LT1 from a 2014 vette.
It would be easier to get an LS based camaro then slam an LS3 in....bolts right up and you can tune the computer to run it in about 5 minutes. I put one in my son's 02 Z28......bolted right in....makes like 450hp with no headers and CA smoggable cam...... Thinking back though should've went 5.3 for better gas mileage. |

Did the ls conversion to my 93 back in 2004. Was told it couldnt be done and was impossible to make work. All the same logic can be applied to the ls3.

You can pick-em up now for $2500-$5000, especially toward the lower end if you're not picky about the motor....seeing that you're gonna upgrade anyway. The 02 computer controls the engine and trans (if auto) and I think it would be much easier going LS PCM than doing a ECU Eprom "hot rod" swap to a 93.....or converting to an aftermarket system which is almost as much as an entire car. Ditch the 93..... Go for an 01-02.....an LS3 swap is about 8 hours of work. |

The LT1's are brilliant engines, which is why GM brought it back.
