Question Unable to jump start Camaro6 via hood

Woke up to a dead battery 2 days ago.
I think my subwoofer amp may have been left on.

I tried using my Fiat 500 to jump start the car using the terminals in the hood, but only got clicks.

I then took apart the trunk to get to the battery in the trunk.
I hooked up the booster cables directly to the trunk, and the car started up the first time itself.

I've noticed this as a trend. Before this car, I had a 2007 Cobalt that also had its battery in the trunk.
I was NEVER able to jump-start that car using the terminals in the hood, I had to attach the cables directly to the battery.

My question is: Has anyone successfully jump started their GM car using the terminals in the hood?

I had this problem a year or so ago when fighting a leak from my LED reverse lights. I had to put the cables on under the hood and leave it for several minutes then it fired right up.

I've had the same problem in the past with several cars and I found that it's much harder to get a good connection on the front terminals than it is on the battery itself. I thought the same thing as you. When I try it and it starts clicking, I move the clamps on the terminals and eventually, I get a good connection and it can jump the car.

I could not jump mine from a charger, I had to hook another car up to get enough juice through the ports under the hood.

I've never connected mine car-to-car, but I do have a jump pack that I've had to use several times on my previous SS. Other than the jump pack almost not being strong enough for the car, I had no issues out of it.

I’ve jump started a couple cars and am currently charging the battery from the battery terminals under the hood.

I find that you have to leave it connected for a few mins while the other car is running before the car will crank or you'll just get clicks. I've experienced this on my other cars. Depending on how dead the battery is.

I have a JNC 770R jump starter that I have used several times to jump start my wife's 2005 Saturn Ion. I have used the positive terminal and negative ground metal screw under the hood each time with no problems. I haven't used jumper cables in years.

I'm assuming you entered the trunk thru the back seat to get hold of the emergency pull.

To get in trunk with dead battery use the key fobs manual key thru the door handle taking off the small plastic piece on handle. Then fold down rear seat and reach in and pull the trunk escape lever.
