For what its worth. I've daily driven three gen6 coupes without sunroof and none did this. Five (plus) years and nearly 50k miles. MY 2016, 2018 and 2020.

The headliner in my 2018 doesn't do it at all, and my 6th gen before that was immune to it as well, so this definitely doesn't feel normal.

Unless you can actually see the headliner flapping and are sure that is causing the noise, I'd check all other possibilities, including the seatbelts, because if the headliner needs to come out, the preliminary step is removing the windshield, the headliner is a single piece that does not fit through the door. The chances of a dealership effing up either the headliner fix or re-sealing the windshield are non-negligible.

Take it back to the dealer for a warranty claim. That’s what a new car warranty is for.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm going to drive it this morning and further investigate. If I determine that it is the headliner, and I suspect it is, I'll take it to the dealership and talk to them. But, I'd be more than a little concerned having my little, local dealership taking my front windshield out to replace the headliner.

Yeah, I'm not scaremongering here, see the relevant section of the service manual.

Do talk to the dealership, if they're small, they may have an approved 3rd party contractor (say, Safelite) perform the windshield job, but if you end up going that route, make sure they reinstall the original windshield or OEM glass that is HUD compatible, not some nerf aftermarket piece.

Good luck, hope this gets fixed soon and you'll be able to enjoy your new monster to the fullest.

BTW, I don't think my issue is the seatbelt, but I am beginning to think that the slight space above the headliner is normal, contributing to or resulting in the buffeting and just a function of the headliner/cockpit design.

If anyone feels differently, please jump in, because I'm open to all ideas and I certainly don't have a good handle on the situation yet.
I checked my '21 SS 1LE this morning on the way into work as I'm experiencing a helicoptering affect with both windows down. It feels like there's a 1/2" space between the headliner and the roof, I can feel the headliner flexing up and down at speeds over 50-60mph but it's not hitting the roof though. It's the same feeling as if I only have 1 window down but they're both down...weird. It only happens with both windows all the way down at highway speeds, if I even put the windows up a little bit it goes away.

Thanks again to all. I just got back from a 2 hour drive. The headliner is definitely vibrating into the ceiling/roof with the driver's side window down at speeds above 50-60 MPH. With both windows down, it still vibrates, but not enough to contact the ceiling.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I may just live with it. As I just said, with both windows down, it's not contacting the ceiling, and of course with the windows up, it doesn't vibrate at all. It's only bad when the driver's window only is down. Pulling the windshield out to replace a headliner could end up as a can of worms. And to make matters worse, I've now got a rattle coming from the dash. Taking the dash apart to troubleshoot a rattle isn't exactly a no-risk situation either.

Bummer. I love the car, but not happy about these 2 issues.

I agree. It's not a perfect world. On the good side, the car is super-quick, easy to drive, corners better than my old 2003 SCCA Corvette STO car ever did, and stops on a dime. I love the color (steel gray), I love the wheels, and the stereo kicks ass. It's a great car. And nothing is perfect, but I do hate rattles. Oh well.

I suggest you take a passenger along to observe the headliner. If they can see it flapping and can change the sound by pushing up on it, then you may have a problem.

But buffeting noise is normal and depends on which windows are open and how much. The air in the cabin will resonate like an organ pipe if the buffeting at the window openings is at the right frequency. Typically in most cars, if all the windows are fully open, there's no buffeting resonance, just a hell of a whoosh at high speed.

I just went to lunch with a buddy whom I had briefed concerning the headliner flexing/vibrating. He confirmed the issue and suggested inserting foam above the headliner to cushion/block it from contacting the ceiling.

I'm going to live with it. I've decided to drive the car with either the windows both open, or both closed. If it gets worse, I'll take it to the dealership. It's brand new, so I've got plenty of time to figure it out. I do really love the car, headliner or not. Thanks...
