112mm TB on a Whipple

So, I bought the 112mm TB for my Whipple only to find out the bolt pattern is completely different and not close to fitting. The only adapter I could find was for the ZR1/LT5 which also has a different bolt pattern. The bore is so big that you cannot just slot the holes or you run the risk of the bolt head area going through into the main bore...! Thankfully I have access to great old-school machine shop and voila!

By the way, this thing is HUGE! Significant upgrade over a 103 in terms of size. Now to try and get my Rotofab Big Gulp to fit up... I’ve got a 5”x4.5” Vibrant silicone adapter on the way but it’s going to be a tight fit...

I just don't see this helping, a 103 will provide enough air to make over 1200 rwhp. I hope it helps but I have my doubts. Good Luck Josh and your making some serious HP with the 103. The Copo's with the Magnuson 2650's use a 109mm TB and they make close to 1500 at the crank. That 112 reminds me of my first girl friend. One hell of an opening.

Will do, King! With the new pulley combo I'm pushing all my chips to the center of the table.

I guess we'll find out! By next year I'll either be running the Gen 5 Whipple or the Maggie 3100 so I figured there was no problem grabbing the 112 now since I can reuse it. And the Whipple opening is 112 anyway, so why not.

Also, your last two sentences are the funniest thing I've read on this board my friend!

Maybe so, she might have been older then I thought, you never can tell. Haha
Josh I didn't know the opening was 112 so go for it. The 3.0 should be a good blower if it works as well as the 5.0 Coyote that they run in Factory Stock.

Did this for you guys a long time ago in my build...

weapon X has an adapter for 112mm but i had to have one made since i was the 1st.. Later on I picked up his since it was black.

https://weaponxmotorsports.com/produ...31590527270961

I even had the silicon adapter made its 4.75 x 5.00 inches I got 4 for 75.00 bucks sold the other 3 all ready contact him he's in china pay with paypal. szyautoparts@163.com This was a long time ago maybe covid got him not sure for his Ebay is inactive that is where i found him. I would call Mike at rotofab last time I talked to him he was going to offer but not sure if that plan came through that's who i contacted 1st. I then searched all over the net and finally just had a few made because 4.75 is no where to be found!.

And yes at least on the 2650 it was a huge improvement.. That is a big bottle neck especially from the not being a straight shot into the TB.

none of these maggis are making over 1000 like me on 8.3 lower and 3.0
upper.

The 112mm and big gulp along with kong porting are awesome together! Hell Jannetty did one the what 6 months ago w an XDI system with a 9.17 lower and 2.80/71mm upper barely passed me just think if i went to a 9.17 lower! That was on a 427 PRC heads probably arh headers 2 inc.. I'm still 376 stroke.

The 112mm is gonna be a huge advantage! i cant wait till Vararam finishes my intake we did some more fitting last month he is guessing 20 to 25 hp a least over the big gulp. He has got the elbow straighten more, the correct diameter, pulling air from 3 different places. (fender liner may be needed to be modded)

FYI the Weapon X adapter is designed to mate the 112 to a ZR1, not a standard LT1/4 bolt pattern. I had to have it custom machined to work per my above post.

Also, the silicone adapter is 5x4.5 not 5x4.75. You can get the 5x4.5 adapter from Vibrant or Amazon even, which I had to do since the Vibrant was on backorder.

That 112mm adapter went right on the edelbrock 2650 with no modification.

Get you calipers out buddy 112mm is measured from inside diameter which is damn near 4.5 inches. I bet ya your car the the OD diameter is right there at 4.75..

The silicone 5x4.5 adapter went right on my Katech 112/Whipple combo and the Vibrant 5x4.5 version went right on my brothers Katech 112/Maggie 2650 with no issues. No stretching at all..

Cmon lets see the dial calipers!!!

I had a 4.5 x 5 inch it wouldn't go on easily maybe Katech is smaller OD than NW The gulp came with 2 couplers a 1 for a stock TB and 1 for a 103mm neither fit a 112mm tB

here is another TB adapter plate to run 112mm

https://sdparts.com/i-24504715-sdpc-...y-adapter.html

here is the weapon X I went to eventually:

https://weaponxmotorsports.com/colle...31590527270961

this page explains it all!!!

Here are the parts I had made the silicone adapter and the 112mm in Stainless later swapped to weaponx because black in color they are identical remember I did this almost 3 years ago!!

Taken from my 1000plus hp build

"I had 4 reducers made to go from 5 inch (big gulp) to 4.75 (NW 112mm).. so 3 to sale if any other TBs out there.

No one in USA wanted to help or sale so I went to there source directly.

4 ply silicone 127mm to 120mm or 5 inch to 4.75 inches..

About to get back on it.."

Interested in the results. I'm already at the end of my fuel system with a 2650 and a 103mm but curious to see what the 112mm picks up. Main downside I could see is drivability on the street. Bigger TB's tend to turn the power delivery once in power enrichment to more and more like an on/off switch. When you can already achieve 1k+ easily companies need to start offering mini tub kits rather than drum sized intake openings LOL.

I'll let you know how it goes Tuesday... going back to the dyno for 1K WHP or bust...

I took it for a quick drive the other day and drivability seemed the same as 103mm TB.
